It feels kind of silly sharing a photograph of a picture, but I’ve chosen this turtle colouring for two reasons.
1. Yesterday it was the 1st anniversary of the death of my favourite author for many many years, Sir Terry Pratchett. The turtle is symbolic because his ‘world’ was set on a disc which sat on top for four giant elephants (Tubul, Berilia, Great T’Phon and Jerakeen) which in turn sat upon the back of the great A’Tuin who was a giant intergalactic turtle. So my picture is a tribute to Sir Terry.
2. I love my colouring books. I never really had time for colouring before but I bought my first book during the last couple of days of my stay in hospital. I really do find colouring very therapeutic. I used to love colouring as a child and I’m reliving that love. However, I find it therapeutic in another sense too as I have reduced feeling in my hands and fingers and I find it really hard to grip things. So holding a pencil and colouring gives me exercise while my mind is relaxing. I sometimes get frustrated as I know I can’t keep in the lines or colour the fiddly bits as I would like, but I try not to let that bother me and just enjoy picking out my colours and feeling the satisfaction as another piece is finished.
Have you had a go at adult colouring?
Great tribute to him. My youngest loves turtles and her room is covered in them
Thank you for linking up
awww, I love turtles too, and elephants, thanks for hosting My Sunday Photo.
I must say I've never found the time to do colouring but I loved these books when I was a child, when I retire I'll take it up, I can imagine the hours just drift by
I never really had time before, but now time is all I have and I have been reading much more than before as well as my colouring. It's nice to slow down but sometimes you don't get the opportunity until it's forced onto you. Maybe, taking time for yourself can prevent you falling ill like I did ??
What a lovely page. I'm sure we make time for things we really want to do but I can see how coloring would help pass the time in the hospital.
Thank you, and yes, it gets really boring while in hospital.
I have only read one book by Sir Terry P. Thats a collab with Neil Gaiman and I can say that its so cool and fun! I wish I can read more books by him. Maybe I will as the world that he created sounds so interesting! #mysundayphoto
I love this, I really need to make time for colouring. Time to relax etc.
