I know I’m a bit late this year but I’ve been trying to brighten up my garden a little and I bought some plants. I wanted a nice border of flowers but after OH began digging we realised that nothing was going to grow there. Before it was a garden it was a building site, and it shows. Our only hope is to dig the whole garden and put down some ‘real’ soil if we want to grow anything. Maybe we will, but in the meantime I’ll settle for some pots of colour. So far I have a rose bush which hasn’t flowered yet, lavender, carnations and Asiatic Lilies, which is what my photos this week are of.
It’s lovely to enjoy a burst of colour despite the end of summer drawing nearer every day.
I wished I had taken a photo of last night’s sky though. It was such a strange colour at sunset, really hard to explain. If I’m honest a photo would probably not have captured it’s strangeness. We had guests around and spent a good few minutes just looking at the sky it was captivating.
I was looking out of the kitchen window this morning thinking how autumnal it feels now Anne. Love that you've bought some flowers/plants. The yellow of the lilies are uplifting 🙂 The flowers we bought this year for the decking were eaten by slugs (it's raised up quite high – guess it's a trek up the steps so in a way they deserve it hahaha). Pots of colour work just as well.

Hi Anne, it's never too late to add a splash of colour to a garden, even if it is in pots. You've made a lovey choice with the lily (I am no gardener), it's a lovely colour. Similar to the sunset maybe?

Potted flowers are the perfect remedy until you can make it a 'garden' in that spot. As for the sunset, it's a shame that photos never really capture the beauty we see with our eyes. But sometimes, I feel like I have to try!

I saw some Asiatic Lilies last week and thought what a lovely shot of autumn colour they provide.
