Three Personalities – revisited

Back in 2014 I wrote a post about my three youngest as I observed their personalities through doing a decoupage craft.

I’ve decided to revisit this observations and see if my children have changed much over the last couple of years.

The Little Man is now six and he’s still a little whirlwind. He does, however, sleep well most nights now and is in fact the best of the three at self settling. He will spend a little longer focusing on one thing but it’s usually computer games, he’s a little addict. He doesn’t watch much television but when he’s off the computer, which is compulsory at times in our home, he finds it difficult to concentrate on other things. He loves lego, but gets bored quickly unless someone builds with him. He really enjoys board games, but again, this is not something he can do on his own. He finds it really difficult to occupy himself, he needs the input of others. Sadly, his sisters see him as just a pain and often refuse to play with him.

He’s not doing so well at school. He’s okay with the work but he gets bored really quickly, doesn’t listen to his teacher, and annoys the other children. We are talking to a nurse about his behaviour next week.

He’s an incredibly caring and loving child and loves nothing more than hugs and kisses, I’m sure that won’t last much longer though.

Looking back, I see he’s not really changed all that much, he even does that annoying constant asking thing, he’ll still be asking me for a drink when he can see that I’m making him one.

Boo, is now nine and growing up faster than the others. She is popular at school still and has lots of friends. She did have a problem with bullying for a while but that was sorted and she is now friends with the girl who gave her a hard time. She also takes time to be friends with the children in her class that are a little different, I’m pretty sure they are on the autistic spectrum. The other kids don’t have time for them but Boo does. I’m not sure if it’s because of her kind and caring nature or because she’s used to it having a sister with autism.

Of the three of them, I think it’s Boo that’s changed the most since my last observation post. Probably because she is the most influenced by others especially at school. We do get some ‘attitude’ from her at times and she can be very over sensitive. She hates being told off for anything, but sometimes we are not even telling her off and she gets upset.

She is the one who spends the least time on computers, she loves playing with her toys, especially her Littlest Pet Shop figures. She will also spend hours drawing and is always trying to improve her art. She loves singing but is still a little shy when it comes to singing in front of others.

Boo has many passions but still dreams of being a chef when she grows up. She wants her own restaurant with a hotel and car park. Better keep on practicing then Boo.

Star is now eleven and goes to a different school to her siblings. She is still quite a loner and has few friends. She still considers Boo to be her best friend although they do tend to argue more now than they used to.

Star says she loves school but I know it’s not easy for her, with all her problems, fitting into a mainstream school. She makes good use of the counselling service offered by the school. She worries about things way too much for such a young child, everything bears heavily on her mind and she needs constant reassurance.

She loves her computer and often spends time either typing away frantically or giggling her head off. She is quite immature and we have to keep an eye on her, but then it’s best to be safe than sorry and she doesn’t mind us checking up on her.

She loves art and will always be happy drawing pen on paper. She has her own particular style of drawing already. We bought her a drawing tablet for her computer for her last birthday, this means she can draw with a pen but it comes up on the screen. She loves it and is getting so good at using it.

Star is also a big reader and loves having her nose stuck in a book, I suppose she has to get something from me.

One of the biggest changes in Star is not really about her personality, it’s her size. At 11 she is already 5ft 3″ and seems to tower above her younger sister despite their being just a two year age difference. In fact I don’t think it will be long before she’s towering above me!
