Oh Deer!
We have just got back from our holiday in South Devon where we had a fabulous week. I’m seriously playing catch up now, but seeing as I missed my Sunday photo last week, I didn’t want to miss again.
I have hundreds of photos to sift through and I had very little time to choose my favourite. So, for now I’m going to share some photos of the deer we got up close and personal with.
We were visiting The World of Country Life in Exmouth and there is a a deer train which takes you right into the middle of a field of deer that you can feed.
I’ve already posted about our trip there. It was one of the highlights of our week. We also had loads of fun on the beach, in parks, arcades and lots of swimming. It was a fun packed week in which we even got to see an Abba tribute. I’m sure I’ll be featuring more of our holiday in the coming weeks.
Everywhere You Go, You Always Take the Weather With You.
We were very lucky weather wise. After the heatwave earlier in the year I was annoyed that I’d booked our break so late this year. We usually go away in early June, and would have been on holiday in the heatwave. However, I decided I’d like to go in the main school holidays this year, just for a change.
We did have a lovely week. It was warm enough not to wear our woollies or coats even in the evening. It was hot enough to spend two lovely days on the beach, paddling and making sandcastles. And it rained only twice. The first time was late evening and it was only a little shower, the second was midday on Tuesday, it was a downpour but didn’t last very long and the sun came out again afterwards. Just a rogue rain cloud.
Now we are home and the weather has been pretty dismal. I think we got away just in time. The girls have just one full week off school, but they don’t go back until the Thursday the week after. I think that’s enough time, I’ve yet to get their uniforms!
I have not heard of this place, but it’s close to my Dad so will pop in next time I am visiting. I love deer and I know the kids would love the deer train
Beautiful. I do love deers, such elegant creatures. I hope you all had a great holiday Anne x #MySundayPhoto
Hi Anne, deer are such a graceful creature, how lovely that you got to see them up close. I love the fawns with their dappled coats… My parents are back in Exeter for the week and have said it’s positively freezing, it sounds as if summer has finally come to an end in the UK… Do they still have those 2 pence arcade games? Arcades are perfect for enjoying a couple of hours on a rainy holiday afternoon.

Hi Debbie, yes, it’s dismal now, it hasn’t stopped raining since we came home. And yes, they do have the two pence arcade games, my kids love them. The Little Man also loved the £3 a go VR machine…they didn’t have them when I was young!
Lovely photos of such beautiful animals! Glad you have had a nice holiday. It sounds good!
It sounds like a great place, amazing close-up detail
Have a good Sunday and thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
It sounds like a lovely holiday….
Fab photos. They really are beautiful creatures x
Love the second photo of the deer. His face is almost “well, hello there” :). I didn’t realise south Devon had a park like this but I’d love to visit one day. We found the weather was lovely there when we went last year too!
Sounds like a lovely day out, you were very lucky with the weather. #mysundayphoto
We used to have Red Deer. They are beautiful, though ours were never this tame. Now we have Fallow Deer, they are smaller but just as pretty. All deer make me stop and stare, they are so graceful.
Oh deer! What a good picture.
Did you really come up so close?
They are beautiful but I don’t know if I’ll be so close like to pet them.
On the second photo he looks like he’s modeling for the picture!
Yes, literally close enough to have him feeding directly from my hand with no fence in between, they were very tame and friendly. I guess they are used to modelling 🙂
What lovely photos of the deer. Glad you had a good holiday and got lucky with the weather.
What beautiful animals and sounds awesome place to. Visit X #mysundayphoto
Wow that is an amazing capture. Such beautiful and majestic animals xx
What beautiful red coats they all have. They must be used to visitors as they seem so tame.n
