My Word of the Week
Illness
Ah, not a good word I know, but it’s not so bad. I was really poorly last weekend and it’s left me feeling weak, but I do feel better now. Sometimes it’s just necessary to do nothing and give yourself time to heal.
I’ve also been fitted with a heart monitor this week which is a bit strange. It’s like wearing a pedometer on my waistband but with wires attached to my body. The sticky pads are starting to get on my nerves and I’m counting the days until I can take them off on Monday morning.
I’m not the only one though, Star got sick on Tuesday. She came home from school feeling unwell and ended up not going in for two days. It’s the first time she’s been off sick this school year which is good for her. With her condition she has lost a lot of time in previous years. The school have been more upset with her breaking her track record than how poorly she’s been. They even offered to let her sit in the library all day just so she could get her attendance mark. It does annoy me that all schools think about is their attendance figures. Star will go back to school when she’s feeling fit, I’m not having a sick child in school to please anyone.
This weekend is going to be fun. The Little Man has some fun things to review for me, and we are hoping to get a little fresh air now that we have got our car back! I really didn’t like the lease vehicle we had while our car was being repaired and it’s been over 14 weeks that we’ve had it. When we get our car back I may be able to drive a little myself. I don’t really like my hand controls, but I’m sure I could get used to them if I drove more, and since I changed my medication I’m not getting vertigo very often now.
So, although it’s not been a good week health wise, I’m looking forward to a good weekend and I’m sure next week will be better.
Now it’s your turn, what have you been up to this week?
Sorry to hear that you and Star have been unwell. It would annoy me too with the school being more bothered about attendance records than whether a child was fit to be at school. I dislike the focus on attendance anyway – children can’t help being ill. Glad to hear you’ve got your car back and sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. Thanks for hosting -#WotW
We are both feeling much better now and looking forward to the weekend. Thanks for linking up x
Sorry to hear you and Star have been poorly this week, there are so many illnesses doing the rounds at the moment it’s hard to avoid picking something up. The whole attendance thing with schools is annoying, rewarding children for coming to school unwell doesn’t bode well for the future at all. I hope you have a nice weekend and manage to get outdoors x #wotw
Send a child sick into school and you risk them passing it on to others, it’s silly! Thanks for your nice comments and for linking up x
Oh no! Not a good week at all. I hope you all feel better soon. It’s fab news that you have got your car back though. It sounds like you have a great weekend planned. Have fun x
Hi Anne, it’s that time of year and having school-aged children doesn’t help. I’ve been eating plenty of oranges and making berry smoothies in the hope that it will help keep my husbands sniffles at bay. I hope you start to feel stronger again soon… I don’t understand what it is with schools and illness. The schools here will hold pupils back if they miss a certain amount of lessons, but I’m like you and wouldn’t send mine when they were ill, apart from not wanting to spread germs the best thing for a quicker recovery is rest… It must be wonderful having your car back again, I can’t believe you had your accident so long ago. Just don’t let Graham drive it!
xx
Hope everyone is feeling better now, schools and their attendance records annoy me sometimes.. I work at a school and it’s such a shame when the kids don’t feel well yet they are there anyway.. Hope you have a lovely weekend
Some weeks just seem to be plagued by illness. Hope you are both feeling better. How lovely to have your car back. I love the independence of being able to jump in the car when I need to. The more time I spend talking to school, the more I think their hands are tied on so many accounts. Attendance seems to be one of those. They have great charts and graphs to prove their point, but I don’t see why sitting in the library makes a difference to achievement. Hope your week is better. #wotw
Oh no it sounds like its been a tough week, I totally agree as mums we know if our kids are well enough to go to school or not, I hope she is feeling better there is so much going around at the moment. I bet you cant wait to get your car back and have a fab weekend with all your review projects xx
Sorry to hear you were both sick. I totally agree with keeping Star of off school. Attendance records drive me insane. I hope Little Man loved doing his reviews. I bet your glad to have your own car back. I love my Skoda!
