Angel
Neon Angel Wings in the Bullring Shopping Centre, Birmingham.
Yesterday was a special day. Not only was it Chinese New Year and Burn’s Night, but it was also my Eldest Son’s birthday. This year he insisted on taking the whole family out for his birthday meal. He’d wanted to go for Chinese seeing as it was Chinese New Year, but we left it a bit late (ok, I left it a bit late) to book anywhere. So we went into town and enjoyed a yummy Pizza instead.
The Bullring seemed to be in celebratory mode too, even though China Town is right next door. In this photo with the Neon Angel Wings, you can also see a big red heart in the background that was flashing a lazer display into the sky and also lighting up St Martin’s Church behind it. Leading up to the Angel wings there was a tunnel of lights. I have a short video of that but there were lots of other people around.
The Dragon Bull
The Bullring bull is a famous bronze statue and he likes dressing up too. Yesterday he was dressed as a Dragon.
It’s a shame they had to put a metal fence around him, I guess the red ropes where not enough to stop people. Usually you can go right up to the bull and even sit on him, although that’s not really allowed and you may get told off!
Birthday Meal
We’ve done some very different things over the years for eldest son’s birthday, including a Korean BBQ, where the food is cooked on a pit in the middle of your dining table. Teppanyaki, which is also cooked on your table with an entertaining chef and Frankie and Benny’s (which I felt was overpriced and underwhelming.)
Yesterday, we decided to go to Pizza Express and they were very accommodating considering there are seven of us including a wheelchair. The food was lovely, and we had a good evening.
Next up is Graham’s birthday which is in February, then I have a break until The end of June.
Love those photos. The bull is unrecognisable dressed as a dragon!
I agree with you that Frankie & Benny’s is underwhelming. I’m glad to hear that Pizza Express was so accommodating. It’s one of our favourite places to go.

we are little split on our delight with pizza express, I love the thin bases, but other’s in our family prefer the bigger bases like you would get at Dominoes.

Sounds like he had a lovely birthday meal out. It is a shame about the railings around it but that seems to be the way it is now doesn’t it. The Christmas tree in our village where we lived in the uk has a barrier round now but I can remember years ago it didn’t need anything #ordinarymoments #sundaysnapshot
Yes, the bull is in a high traffic area and people just can’t leave it alone. It’s a shame that the barrier wasn’t enough and they had to put such high fences up, they spoil the photo.

Love the neon wings! Totally agree about F&B it used to be one of my favourite places to eat but it’s really gone down hill the last few years! Linking up with #theordinarymoments
The neon wings were so lovely, I think they may have positioned them better with the heart in the background though. I’m glad we went in the dark.

Love these photos – those angel wings are amazing! 😀
aren’t they pretty. I wish I’d made Boo put on a pretty dress now, but she may have been a bit cold.

It’s the tail that gives the bull away. What a wonderful (temporary) make over into a dragon. You are so good at getting every one out and to a meal on the birthdays. Boo makes a very good nonchalant angel. Looks like a book cover. #mmbc
Trust me, it’s not easy getting everyone out. This one was called off at least twice during the day!
Those wings are amazing! Glad you had a lovely meal out 🙂

It’s so sad when they have to put fences around things like that isn’t it? Love those wings though!! #OrdinaryMoments
Aww those wings are amazing. What a beautiful photo or a sweet girl xx
Oh Happy Birthday! Everywhere seemed to really get into the Chinese New Year spirit this year. You can’t beat Pizza Express for a simple birthday meal x
Loving the wings – I want some! Thanks for linking up and for sharing with #MySundaySnapshot.
I love the angel and the bull. Sounds like you had a fab evening out! 🙂
