Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My phrase this week is Spring and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board
devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Spring
It’s been such an unusual week. Every day blurring into the next. Bad news on the television, so that get’s turned off. Arguments in the house because we are all under each other’s feet and there feels like no escape. With everything going on it’s so hard to focus on anything. I see people on television encouraging people to exercise and do something creative and I can’t even sum up the energy to read a book.
But look outside and you can see blue skies and hear the birds singing. The flowers are appearing and the leaves on the trees are coming back along with the the blossom. Spring has arrived and it doesn’t care about COVID19.
I feel lucky that my kids don’t get cabin fever. They are quite happy to stay at home. Now that the school work has stopped arriving they have calmed down a lot. I don’t need to keep on at the kids to get on with their work. It will soon be time to get started again though. I will be more prepared.
For now, I’m taking a step back and enjoying the world coming alive. I spend a couple of minutes at my back door listening to the birds, before the rest of the neighbours start being noisy and I love it. I have some potted plants that I’m hoping will start flowering soon. Although I admit, my garden is pretty rubbish for flowers. My husband gave the shed a good clear out which is great (Apart from the bags of rubbish around the side that can’t be taken to the tip.)
The kids are a pain to get outside but now that they are not going to school I think it’s vital that they spend a little time outside in the Spring sunshine and I’m doing all I can to encourage them. Heck, I might even let them take their tablets out.
We are not taking exercise out of the house. It’s too risky. I do not want any of us to get this virus. Graham still goes out for essentials, but he only takes the car if really necessary. We are getting a delivery slot for our shop from Sainsburys every week for which I am truly grateful.
In a way, I wish it was still winter and we could sit in the house under blankets and hide away from the world. But Spring has arrived and we can’t ignore that we need air, and sun. We are lucky to have our own garden.
I hope everyone else is coping well. Stay Safe. And have a lovely Easter, I hope the Easter bunny manages to find you. 🙂
Now, it’s over to you. What word or phrase sums up your week this week?
You can find my new linky here, it’s all about how we are all coping with the virus lockdown. Come and share your stories.
It is lovely to see signs of Spring. I find sitting in the garden listening to the birds singing very calming at the moment. Nice to have break from school work too. Glad you are managing to get regular delivery slots for your shopping. Hope you have a nice weekend and thank you for hosting #WotW
Happy Easter to you Anne … I try to get our kids out too, but it is hard. I’m loving the garden, and seeing stuff coming up … we’ve cleaned it up a bit, and realise all we have to do! #WotW
I have been enjoying seeing spring arriving too. We had warm weather for the past few weeks and my hubby and I could work outside in our yard, which was a great way to get out of the house. Today is cold and windy, with even a few snow flurries. Ugh! Hope your Easter is happy, Anne. Stay safe!

I have totally lost track of what day it is. I seem to have less time to do what I want with the kids being home. I’m getting no cross stitch done and I’m even struggling to get blog posts written.
At least the Easter holidays has given us time to prepare for the home schooling.
It sounds like you have been busy. I do hope your plants grow. My two love being outside. I have let them take their tablets out and they thought it was fantastic.
I think being at home would have been so much easier in the winter. x

Happy Easter
Spring ready to start. I hope sunshine will bring happiness to all and remove this pandemic to the world. stay safe.
Spring in California is a mixed bag of weather. We flip flop with cold, rainy days that call for hibernating inside and sunny, warm days that lure you to come outside. We have been locked down since March 19th. Last week was cold and wet, made staying inside the only option. But this week we are looking at clear skies and gorgeous temperatures. Like you, I don’t want to venture out, but I do plan on spending time soaking up some sun on my back patio. Glad you were able to secure a delivery slot for groceries.
