Hey it’s a been a while but I was waiting for something exciting to happen and guess what? Nothing has happened. Every day is very much the same apart from the weather.
This time last year we had just come back from a lovely weekend in Wales. I’d been on a blogger retreat and Graham and the kids had been enjoying the seaside town of Aberystwyth. We came home through the Elan Valley which was so picturesque but I did get a bit scared on some of the higher parts of the drive, especially being on the side of the drop!
Sunshine
Yesterday was so sunny, we all managed to spend time in the back garden. The Little Man made full use of the swings and the trampoline. I’ve ordered a new safety net for the trampoline, the girls won’t go on it, but the little man bounced safely in the centre and not very high.
It was hard to get the girls out and I really need to sort out some nice garden furniture to make it a little cosier. The current fold up chairs we have are not comfy at all. Plus we need another parasol in case it gets a little too sunny. I do have a new rotary washing line though and yesterday Graham fixed it in with concrete.
Cabin Fever
I’m really starting to get cabin fever now. The big kids are dealing with it by sleeping most of the day. I’ve asked them to get up and go for a walk with me but they don’t seem interested.
Graham is the only one that goes out, and that’s only if really necessary. I know he’s missed his Mum so I’ve told him to go and meet her somewhere at a social distance of course.
But I want to go out, somewhere quiet where there won’t be many people. I’ve scoured Google maps for places nearby that may be quiet and still have wheelchair access. A friend mentioned somewhere I’d forgotten about yesterday. It’s only a five minute drive away and there is a large lake. I’ve just checked on Google maps and yay! there is a concrete path going all the way to the lake and all the way around it. I’ve been waiting for long enough, I hope we can go tomorrow.
Waiting for School
My kids are year 5, 8 and 10. It’s only the older one that is on the list for returning to school in June. Sadly, she’s the vulnerable one so it would be too much of a risk to send her back. However, I’m trying to arrange some time in school with her in the SEND department with a one to one session. She is working towards her GCSEs and needs some motivation. I will leave the final decision to her though.
If I had the option to send the other two back I’d be torn. I took them out of school early because I am extremely vulnerable, and my eldest son is vulnerable too. If any of us gets COVID 19 then our chances of staying out of hospital are low. It would just not be worth the risk at this stage.
On the other hand, they would jump at the chance to go back. They miss school and their friends so much. They are both at an age where they would be able to stick to the rules, they are waiting for such an opportunity. It’s such a shame really.
When it comes to it, it really is a personal decision. No-one has to legally send their child back to school. Some will, some won’t. Everyone has their own reasons for doing so. It’s not an easy decision either way and no-one should be judging anyone else. What worries me is the pressure on the schools and teachers. It must be so difficult for them to make all these arrangements to keep everyone safe.
I haven’t done this for a while but here are the places you can find me online. Please join me if you wish.
See you soon, don’t forget to join in with your posts. We could make a COVID Time capsule between us! Stay Safe x
I know what you mean about cabin fever but although things are opening up and becoming more normal here we are still staying close to home and not going out to enclosed spaces like shops unless necessary. It’s lovely to be able to spend time outside with friends again though :o)

We are not allowed to meet with more than one person at the moment, which is awkward seeing as I need a carer with me at all times. Things are becoming more normal here because others are breaking the rules, I just hope it doesn’t cause another spike which will put us back in complete lock down. 🙁
It is all a bit samey isn’t it. I am glad the sunshine is back. It makes everything a bit easier.
I sent my girls out for the first time without my fella and I yesterday. They went for a walk around the farmers field. There is official footpaths around it which I discovered a couple of days ago after looking on Google for a nice walk.
My two are missing school and their friends but they won’t be going back before September. I am quite glad about it but they’re not. Eek x

It’s hard isn’t it, the kids want to go back to school because it’s been so long, but they have so much longer to wait. I’m glad you have somewhere for the girls to walk, I hope we can get out soon.
