Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My phrase this week is playing games and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board
devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
My Word of the Week – Playing Games
It’s been a bit of a weird week this week. Does anyone else think time is flying by in lock down, or is it going slow for you? It was a bit of shock to think that we have been stuck at home longer than the entire school Summer holiday already.
This week I decided to treat my kids to some time playing games. The Little Man had a game, Scrap Mechanic, on his laptop and the girls had, My Hero, Justice Two (or something like that) on the Switch. I also decided to revisit a game myself and I’ve been playing The Sims. The eldest two have been playing some prison escape game and Graham has been playing Uncharted Four.
They are all very different games so it’s been a whole week of computer gaming and maybe that’s why it’s gone so fast. Time flies when you are gaming that’s for sure.
Of course we have still been home educating too, but we get an extra day off today, Yay! The Little Man is still working the hardest, but that’s probably because he has to do all his work under my supervision. I’m trusting the girls to work independently.
Other than that we’ve had a couple of nice days and managed to get in the garden for a little while. We picked some dandelions from the garden last weekend and made some cookies with the petals. They were delicious but the kids were not keen to try them because they had flowers in them. I tried to explain that sugar and flour comes from plants too, but they still only had a nibble. I have strange kids!
That’s all from me this week, let me know what word or phrase sums up your word this week?
Last week my word of the week was Challenge
I feel the exact same Anne, time is flying by! Although, some days seem to go quite slowly which is strange. Either way I’m making no complaints. The sims was one of my favourite games when I was a teenager but I haven’t played it since…maybe I should give it a try this coming week when work is quiet. The dandelion cookies had me thinking of Brambley Hedge straight away. They definitely sound like something the little mice would have baked! I’m glad they turned out so well, and that you got to enjoy them all yourself 😉
Sounds like everyone has been enjoying time gaming this week. Sophie has been re-discovering some of the games on our PS4 recently and enjoying playing them with Daddy so we’ve done a bit of gaming this week too. It’s nice to have an extra day off the home-schooling today, isn’t it? I can’t believe that this has been longer than the summer holidays already. For me, it seems to be going by quite quickly too. Glad you enjoyed the dandelion cookies even if the kids were a bit dubious. They never last very long when we make them! Thanks for hosting #WotW and hope you have a good weekend.

Dandelion cookies? Um, recipe, please! It’s amazing how time flies when gaming. My daughter wants me to play Animal Crossing, but I would never get anything done if I did. LOL.
We’ve been playing Animal Crossing, but I want a copy of my own so I don’t have to share an Island! The cookies are simple really, we used a regular cookie recipe but just added the dandelion petals in. We gave them a bit of a wash first and then dried them before pulling out the petals. The kids loved this bit.
I also think time is flying by. It’s crazy to think we’ve been stuck at home for the same time as the summer holidays.
All the games sound like great fun! I am back into playing the Sims. I do love it and can easily lose a couple of hours just building a house.
Ahh! I was thinking about making something with dandelions but the kids were having none of it! x

Wow! I have never heard of dandelion cookies but they sound intriguing. Now I have to try them. My son just bought Minecraft for his two boys, but he has it set up so that they can’t interact with anyone online. It’s a good way to get them to use their imagination and serves as a reward if they get all their schoolwork done. April seemed like it crqwled by for me!

A whole week of gaming would be Hubby and Madam’s dream! LOL!! she plays Minecraft and the various Lego games. Never tried dandelion cookies… though I have enough dandelions in my garden to make a bakery full LOL!
The days are just flying by!
We have been gaming too. I love playing the Sims and it’s surprising how quickly time passes when you play it. We have all been sucked into Fortnite as well! x
Doesn’t time fly?! Love the idea of dandelion cookies. I grow nasturtiums which my children love eating the flowers. They also eat the apple blossom. I’ll give dandelion cookies a go. Thanks for the idea.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the joy of playing games! It’s incredible how games can bring us together, spark our imagination, and provide endless entertainment. Your post beautifully captures the essence of why games hold a special place in our lives.
