While getting from A to B is always the priority when looking for a new car, doing it as safely as possible takes on extra importance if you’re ferrying little ones around.
Accidents can happen at any time, no matter how carefully you take to the roads, but driving models with higher safety ratings will give you an extra helping hand, as well as added peace of mind!
Using Euro NCAP’s safety ratings, here is a selection of brand-new models with the highest rating that more families can afford.
Volkswagen T-Cross
With a score of 97% for adult occupants’ safety, the T-Cross is among the safest cars money can buy. It comes with a whole host of features as standard, including lane-assist system and automatic emergency brakes, should someone, or something, step out in front of you unexpectedly.

Peugeot 2008
The second-generation Peugeot 2008 has been given a significant facelift, but there’s substance to come with the style. Nissan Juke
The latest iteration of the Japanese marque’s compact SUV range comes with a whole host of safety features as standard and scores 85% for child occupant’s safety. The Juke will also monitor your speed relative to a car in front and can either warn you of a need to slow down, or even apply the brakes in emergencies.

Ford Kuga
The third-generation Kuga has been made much lighter, yet stronger by a new material used for the chassis and a score of 86% for child occupant’s safety is impressive. Unlike other models on this list, the Kuga does not come with front-seat Isofix on any models in the range, but all safety features are fitted as standard, which is a big tick.
