We have just made the decision to cancel our holiday this year. It is in the UK in August, but with underlying health conditions it’s probably best that we don’t mix with too many people for a while just yet. We were going to Haven, a favourite resort for us for many years and when we go, the kids have to have their photo taken in the huge deckchair.
2013 deckchair photo
This is our first deckchair photo taken in 2013 in Prestatyn. The Little Man was around but he didn’t like climbing on the chair. Boo would have been five years old here and Star seven years. The Little Man would have been just two.
Weymouth 2017
Here are all three of them in the Deckchair in Weymouth in 2017, this is where we were supposed to be going this year. Here, Star is 11 years old, Boo is 9 and the Little Man is 6.
There is a bit of a break because we didn’t go on holiday for a couple of years because just a few months after the 2013 break, Star had her neck problems begin. They lasted two years. We did manage some short breaks between halos but they were not Haven holidays. We also had a Haven holiday in Blackpool in 2016…but no deckchair photo!
Devon 2018
In 2018 we decided to go back to Devon Cliffs, it had been our first Haven holiday destination back in 2010 but the girls were only 4 and 2 yrs old and the Little Man hadn’t been born. I didn’t take a deckchair photo. (I’ve included a non deckchair photo at the end of the post of the girls.)
In this photo the Little Man was 8yrs, Boo was 11 years and Star had her 13th birthday on the day we came home. With all three kids having their birthdays in summer, I really try to avoid holiday birthdays but I messed up this year.
Cornwall Deckchair 2019
And now we are up to our last holiday in 2019. We decided to go all the way to Cornwall, and it wasn’t until we were nearly there that I realised that I’d booked us into the wrong Haven site. It didn’t really matter though. Cornwall is such a beautiful place to visit. It was too steep for me to get on the beach at the site but I had some lovely sea views. And just a short drive away, to the place I thought we were staying, they had beach wheelchairs available.
In this photo, taken in between The Little Man and Star’s birthday, Boo is 12 years old, The Little Man is 9 and Star is still 13 years.
Our First Haven Holiday 2010
This was our first Haven holiday and the reason why we keep returning. We had such a lovely week with our little girls who were then just four and two years old.
I am hoping we can save our holiday deposit for next year. I’m looking forward to going back to Weymouth.
Are you still going on holiday this year?
Edit: I’ve decided to add another two deckchair photos
Rockley Park 2021
Rockley Park is in Poole, Dorset and it was a nice relaxed park with a lovely lake. It was a short drive to the beach, but made a lot longer thanks to road works.
Devon Cliffs Part Three
2022 was our third visit to Devon Cliffs and we had glorious weather thanks to the UK heatwave. The kids look a bit fed up in this photo but I think it was only because I took so many and they’ got fed up’s had enough, they looked much happier in this photo with their Dad.
I think this will possibly be our last Haven holiday, we are finding them increasingly overpriced and the kids are getting older and have little interest in the things that they used to love, like the kid shows and paddling pool. We are thinking of going somewhere different next year, but we’ll always have our Haven Deckchair memories.
That’s such a shame but better being safe and hopefully next year it will be a very different situation #sundaysnapshot
I really do hope we can eradicate this virus and things get back to normal. I don’t want a holiday where my kids can’t enjoy the things they expect to do while away. Even though the sea air and views are nice. Maybe we can get some of that without risking a huge caravan park?
That’s a shame you’ve had to cancel your holiday but it is the sensible thing to do.
Fab photos! It’s good when you can go back and get a similar photo every time. x

I love the comparison photos, it’s a shame we probably wont get many more but we will always have our memories. x
How lovely to have all these photos to look back on!
Sorry to hear that you have had to cancel your holiday this year. We had a Haven holiday in Weymouth and really enjoyed it – the beach there is awesome!

Yes, we do love Weymouth and last time we went the weather was glorious. Maybe next year.
We’re still up in the air about our vacation this year. We have already bought tickets and passes for Disney and Universal which cost an arm and a leg but we really don’t want to go if we’re going to have to wear face masks in the hot florida sun (which let’s face it they’re going to be required!). Maybe late fall we’ll be able to go?! I just don’t know. #MMBC

Oh that must be awful, I know Disney holidays are trips of a lifetime it must such a difficult decision to make. 🙁
Aw I love those comparison photos, so lovely! Such a shame about your holiday but definitely safest right now! #mmbc
Yes, we are siding with safety over fun as sad as it makes us.
What lovely photos and lovely memories. What a shame you have had to cancel your holiday, but it seems the sensible option. We’ve cancelled a trip to Center Parcs in August with my parents and a couple of nights in Amsterdam for my husband and I next month. We are really hoping we can get our week in Padstow in August.

What a lovely set of photos. We don’t have a holiday planned yet, but will be lovely to go somewhere again as a family once it’s safe to do so.
Such a shame you had to cancel your holiday. We love haven holidays. This one looks filled with lovely memories. I hope you can make up for it soon xx
I always love those giant deckchairs – such a lovely tradition x
I am sorry that you have had to cancel your holiday but it is better to stay safe than to be sorry right? I’m sure there will be plenty of oversized deckchair photos in future 🙂
Thanks for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot xxx
