It’s Remembrance Sunday today, a day when we remember all those that gave up their lives to fight for our Country. I am a peace loving person but war happens, it happens all the time and people fight. My Dad was in the Second World War, he was older than my Mum who was a young school girls at the time.
I never really had much chance to talk about my Dad about the war as he passed away early November 1974. So this time of year I think more about my Dad.
I’ve been looking for a photo of me and my Dad which I have scanned because I wanted to share it today. But, I can’t find it. So I decided to share a photo of Bletchley Park where we visited a couple of years ago. It played a very big part in the war and we learned a lot while we were there.
The Ordinary Moments – In Memory
One thing I did find while looking for my photo of my Dad was lots and lots of memories that we have made over the years. Photographs are such a wonderful way of capturing our memories and I’m so happy that I’ve shared so many on my blog. I just wish I had more of my life and family from before digital photos were available. Even when my older kids where younger we had to use cameras with films and then go and have them developed. I can even remember crying in the chemist when I went to collect the photographs of my eldest daughter’s second birthday and they had all been ruined.
We don’t know how lucky we are these days, we don’t even need a camera, just snap away with our phones and capture those memories.
Here is a collage of some really old photos. A lot of these people are no longer around. I captured them here in memory.

We are lucky now having photos instantly instead of having the get them developed.

I love this post! So wonderful that you are so proud of your dad. I also remember collecting a packet of photos and finding quite a few duds in there! When my dad visits I have started asking him to bring old photos with him. We go through them together and I write on the back who everyone is. I am happy to have them. #MMBC
My oldest son’s first few pictures were all on film too. It’s amazing how much easier digital photography has made capturing memories. #MMBC

So sorry to hear about your dad. It must have been very hard to lose him at such a young age.
I love the old photos. They remind me of the ones my parents have from my grandparents.

I remember the day I lost my Dad very clearly, practically every moment, even though it was so very long ago. I love old photos too and I have boxes of them.

Remembrance Sunday is such a sentimental time. I don’t know anyone who fought in the war but it’s still always so poignant and so important to remember and teach the children why we remember too. We loved Bletchley Park x
