Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘eventful’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Eventful
Monday began with Graham taking Eldest Daughter to work, then the Little Man to school…then he noticed he had two flat tyres. He managed to get the car to the garage but they had no tyres in stock so he had to leave it there. That meant a very long walk to pick up the Little Man from school, and Eldest Daughter had to get a taxi home from work. Talk about an eventful start to the week!
It didn’t end there though. I was worried that the shopping would arrive while he Graham was picking up Little Man but I needn’t have worried. It didn’t. It was supposed to come before 3pm and after many phone calls I managed to track it down and it arrived at 8pm. In the meantime we’d had to order take out…and have it delivered because we had no car! (I could have rustled something up from the freezer/cupboards but my lot were being fussy, and I was feeling stressed out.)
On Tuesday we had our COVID testing which we do for the ONS study. The tests are usually dropped off and we do them, stick on the labels, put them back in the bags and then leave them on the doorstep for collection. Questions are then answered on the phone, which takes about 15 minutes. This tester was adamant it was all done correctly and insisted that we each did the test and answered the questions on the doorstep, one by one. There are seven of us and this took nearly an hour. Some family members were not impressed and we nearly didn’t get the testing done at all.
Wednesday was pretty uneventful, but I was feeling a bit stressed out. I have a big family at home and each birthday I make sure I get everything prepared beforehand, presents wrapped, cards written, cakes made. Sadly, the same doesn’t happen when it’s my birthday. I bought some cards online and gave them straight to Graham when they arrived without looking at them. Then he gave them back to me on Wednesday evening, expecting me to round everyone up to write them. He really couldn’t understand why this upset me!
Thursday was the event of the week…my very first zoom! As I’m writing this it’s not happened yet and if I’m honest, I’m a bit scared. I’m taking part in a blogger’s quiz night and I hope it will be fun. Thursday was also our fourth Wedding anniversary. I made Graham a card with some little crochet hearts. It was a bit naff but I made an effort. Oh, it was also my birthday and I had some cards and presents 🙂 I feel a bit old!
My lovely friend surprised me with a doorstep visit and present. I know we are not allowed to meet in gardens but we did stay two meters apart and outside. We mused about how we will miss our trip to the ballet this Christmas. 🙁
So that was my eventful week. Some good some bad, fingers crossed for the zoom meet!
Now it’s your turn, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Belated Happy Birthday for Wednesday! Certainly sounds like an eventful week. I know all about buying my own cards/presents, the way I look at it is at least I get what I want! How lovely to see your friend 😀 Hope you have a nice weekend
Thank you, I prefer to buy my own presents but it’s the first time I bought my own cards, better than having to send Graham out.
A very happy birthday, for yesterday. I hope you enjoyed your day. I buy my presents, which makes it easier all round. Usually my mother makes me a cake, but this year we’re not meeting up, so I’ve bought a cake kit for the family to make, which is easy to do. I’m seriously ahead of myself as it’s after Christmas. I hope the quiz went well. I almost opted in, but I’m far too competitive and no one would talk to me afterwards! Having the car out of action is a real pain. Two tyres, as well. I hope it’s all sorted now. I hope next week is eventful in all the right ways.
Thank you x You should have opted in on the quiz, maybe our team as we were incredibly rubbish, lol.
Thanks for hosting. Our WoW is “choosing happy.” Our social isolation Thanksgiving felt different. But it was good. We are healthy, happy, connected to each other, and had a ton of leftovers—which is one of the best things about Thanksgiving, right?
It wasn’t the same without extended family. But the games, movies, walk to the park, craft, and family time was a blast. In this very different, COVID world, we are choosing happy and it is good.
Thansk for hosting each week. We’re hoping you and your family had a great Thanksgiving too!

I’m glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving in your own way. We don’t have Thanksgiving over here like you do, but it does fall on my birthday 🙂 I’ll pop along and read you now.
The week certainly has been eventful.
What a nightmare with the flat tyres and the shopping! I know you said it was late but I didn’t realise how late it was. I think you deserved that take out.
That sounds such a faff with the Covid testing.
Happy birthday! That is pretty poor of your family not care about writing your cards out!
I hope the quiz night went well. It sounds like fun. x
