It was my eldest son’s birthday and we went to Frankie and Benny’s for a meal out on Friday.

I’d already had a busy day as eldest wanted to go on a shopping spree. He didn’t spend anything, but at least we got him out for a while. I’m so glad it wasn’t so cold. I’d been out the previous day to buy a few things and it had been freezing.

Then on the evening all seven of us went out for a meal. The staff at Frankie and Benny’s were lovely, but did have to wait such a long time for the food. eldest daughter thought it a good idea to have cocktails, well, obviously not the kids, or Graham the driver. I had a Woo Woo, it sounded nice with Vodka and peach schnapps. Then I chose a pulled pork hot dog for my main, I was a bit surprised to find a frankfurter hot dog underneath the pork. If I’m really honest, I didn’t enjoy it that much.

It was a good evening though, and so nice to get out as a family, we don’t do it often enough.

I was sifting through my photos trying to find something to share that wasn’t of the kids or the cats and having very little luck. Then I spotted this photo I took from the car while, in very slow moving traffic, on the way home from the hospital.

Admittedly it’s not the best of photographs, but I think it means a lot to me. This factory was where a few members of my family have been employed. I mostly remember my auntie working there and she had a special pass for the shop which she would share with my Mum. At Easter, my Mum would go along and buy a load of yummy Easter Eggs at a much cheaper price than in the shops.

Every summer, there is a fete held on the grounds in front of the factory. They have a big fairground and fireworks in the evening. We’ve been many times, particularly when my older kids were younger as it always seemed to fall around my daughter’s birthday. What a great treat for her.

About 30 years ago, they opened a brand new visitor centre right next door which is very popular with people far and wide. It actually took me around 25 years to visit it, but we’ve been several times since and experienced it in both summer and winter time.

Also, around 12 years ago we spent a whole afternoon looking for a geocache which was hidden in a tree near here. (Just right of the photograph.) I learned so much more about the area on that visit, including that all the trees are numbered! When we found the tree we were looking for I was keen to be the one to retrieve the geocache. So, I put my hand into the hole of the tree and straight on top of a frog who was guarding the little box of treasure.

The factory was the first in its chain and its produce is known in many countries around the world. The whole area around it was built by the factory for it’s workers and is still very much unchanged. When you pull into the local train station everything is painted in purple.

Do you know what factory it is yet? One last clue, it smells divine!

Christmas is over so now it’s time for a kitten catch up! Ash is now 9 months old and is getting so big, but he still has a baby face don’t you think?

He gets on with his big sister just fine now, although they fight a lot, it’s generally in play as they have never hurt each other. We have had hours of entertainment watching them play hide and seek.

My eldest daughter bought a laser pen and Ash loves it. He goes absolutely crazy running around after it. Then my daughter pointed it at the curtains and Ash dived up them like a crazed animal. It was so funny seeing him dangling on the curtains by his claws. And he will do it over and over again. The problem is, he’s ruining my curtains. I have plans for re-decorating my living room this year, so the curtains will be replaced. I just hope he grows out of climbing up them soon.

Boo loves Ash and will spend hours cuddling him like a baby. Sometimes he protests because he wants to run amok instead. But, the love is there, he will go to her when she calls him and allow her to cuddle him. He’s not generally a fussy cat, but we are trying to teach him that sitting on our laps is a good thing.

We lost Ash yesterday, although we knew he was in the house. We had been putting away the Christmas decorations so after he’d attacked the dismantled tree he decided to go and hide. We looked everywhere for him. Of course Boo missed him first and searched the house. Then Star went for a look. Finally, I managed to do a search myself, checking all rooms and even cupboards. He was nowhere to be found.

Five minutes after my check he was mewing at the living room door to be let in!

I Make No Apologies, This Is Me

I love the Greatest Showman, and This is Me has to be the most inspiring song. I can relate being disabled as it’s particularly aimed at those who are perceived to be different. But my story goes much deeper than my disability because I also have three children on the autistic spectrum and one with Elhers Danlos Syndrome. We have had a lot to deal with over years, but we march along to our own beat of the drum and will never apologise for being different.

A Brief Introduction (This is Me)

If I wrote a book of my life it would probably have many different volumes. I had a very interesting childhood, tinged with a loss and change. Then married young and being a young mother again my life took a different turn. I went into higher education later than most and got my degree at 34 years old.

My older children grew up and I don’t talk about them here but I do have two adult children who still live at home with me and continue to add colour and variety to our life.

I met Graham, my current husband, in 2001 and we got married in 2016. We had three children who have blog names, Star born 2005, Boo born 2007 and The Little Man born 2010. I’ve been writing here on Raisie Bay since 2011.

I am Brave, I am Bruised, I am who I’m meant to be.

Ok, I’m not always that brave, I don’t feel brave, but I’ve dealt with a lot over the years and I don’t care anymore what people think of me. I was struck down on January 1st 2016 with a rare condition. Originally mis-diagnosed with Transeverse Myelitis, I was later told I had Stiff Person Syndrome plus PERM.

It’s a progressive condition so I won’t get better, but I do my best, along with my consultant to keep it under control. The condition has left me unable to walk unaided and even aided I can only manage to walk for a very short period. I feel pain constantly, which you do kind of get used to. Occasionally, I don’t deal with it very well.

I get treated by a bucket load of medication and infusions of human plasma called Immunoglobulins. (IVIG) These help to keep me going.

I Know There is a Place For Us

This is me, it’s my place, my little spot on the Internet where I blog it all out. I also have another blog where I post most of my book reviews and affiliate posts as well as things that keep me happy while spending most of my life stuck at home.

This blog has been going for nine years and it’s recorded my little ones growing from babies to teens (Apart from The Little Man, at 10 years he’s still my baby.)

Each Friday I run a Word of the Week linky which has also been going for years and I love doing it. I also take part in My Sunday Snapshot and The Ordinary Moments on Sunday. I also take part in a Chronic illness link up each month were I go into more detail about my condition following writing prompts given.
