I finally got to take my girls to the ballet this week. We saw The Nutcracker at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Here’s Boo standing in front of the orchestral pit. She chose her outfit herself, she loves dresses but she’s not into the pink frilly type so I was a little dissapointed in her navy blue spotty dress. However, she was thrilled with the fluffy blue cardigan with diamante I bought her. And she has a pearl necklace that she chose. I also spent some time curling her naturally straight hair for her.
The Nutcracker
Our seats were right at the front. I took this picture from mine. You can see the orchestra pit and the stage is right behind that screen. We got there a little early and it was quite empty, as it began to fill everyone was chatting and Star found it really stressful. I should remember to bring her ear defenders for times like this. However, we counted down the time until the start and it wasn’t long before the lights went down and the chattering stopped.
Then the music began and after the prelude the curtain went up and the show began. I took a sneak peak at the girls and they were enthralled with big smiles on their faces. Boo asked a few questions during the first half, but they mostly were just watching and enjoying.
The second half is more dancing than story and the girls just sat back and enjoyed the magic.
They loved the Nutcracker but on the way out they saw posters for the Musical, Six. So now I’m going to see if I can get tickets to see that. You can’t beat a night of live performance. I’m already excited for my next ballet experience, Matthew Bourne’s ‘The Red Shoes.’
Have you ever been to the ballet?
How lovely to watch a live performance, tis lovely show X #mysundaysnapshot
Oh wow! Boo looks fabulous and ever so grown up!
It sounds like you had a wonderful time.
I’ve never been to the ballet before but would love to x
I love her outfit! This is the type I would have picked when I was younger and I’ve never been overly girly with pinks. Sounds like you had a magical evening #sundaysnapshot
I love the Nutcracker – I’ve never been able to see it live but one day, one day!!
Boo looks gorgeous in her outfit and the hair curling was definitely worth the effort. I love having a view of the orchestra pit. Fascinating to watch them too. I’m glad you all had a good time. #mmbc
This is definitely one I want to see. Looks like you all had a great time. #MMBC
How lovely! I know you’ve been looking forward to this and I’m so glad you all enjoyed it. We’ve been to the ballet a couple of times, but never seen The Nutcracker. To be honest, I don’t even know the story! We would like to see Six too.
I’m so glad that she enjoyed it – it must have been amazing to watch live ! Thanks for linking up and for sharing your snaps with #MySundaySnapshot.
