Yesterday I had the pleasure of going to the Hippodrome Theatre to see Edward Scissorhands by Matthew Bourne. The Hippodrome is right next to the Chinese Quarter in Town and the Chinese New Year Celebrations were already in full swing. There were stalls, I may have bought something, and rides and even a Dragon dancing, although we couldn’t see much. The trees were adorned with lanterns and lights and with it being so crowded it was difficult to get photos. (I don’t like featuring strangers on my blog.) I did manage to capture some of the decorative lights on the way home though.
I did consider buying some Chinese food to celebrate but the prices at the supermarket were inflated, so I’m going to ask Boo if she wants to make her special prawn fried rice instead. We might even have a go at making our own fortune cookies!
Ok, I left you hanging earlier. I did buy something, there was a stall selling gorgeous crystals and bought myself a beautiful Lapis Lazuli Tower for my collection. I’ve put it on a Chinese Celebration background.
Do you do anything to celebrate Chinese New Year?
Celebrations for Lunar New Year are determined by the phases of the moon. Technically, the holiday begins during the second new moon after the winter solstice. As a result, it falls on different dates each year
This year the celebrations began on January 10th and can continue for up to 15 days. This is the year of the Dragon. I was born in the year of the snake! My Children are, Dragon, Snake, Rooster, Boar and Tiger.

I hope you had a good time at the theatre.
Fab photos! The lights are so pretty and the crystal looks brilliant. x
That sounds like a lovely extra treat on your way to the ballet!
I’m totally with you on not including photos of strangers on my blog (or social media), but it can definitely make taking photos challenging.
Happy Chinese New Year 🙂
