Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week, a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is Novel and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase but please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Since adding this link up party to a directory I’ve noticed a lot of posts, in particular, recipe posts, that do not fit in with the theme of this linky. I have made the decision to remove these posts from further link ups. So please don’t link up anything unless it includes a summary of your week or events in your life. Thank you for your understanding
There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK
Novel
As I mentioned last week, I’m taking part in National Novel Writing Month this year (NaNoWriMo for short.) The aim is to write 50,000 words in a month and it’s really quite doable. I’m up to 17,000 words and so I’m a little bit behind, but I can still do it with around 2000 words a day.
I’m not going to tell you what my novel is about, and if I’m honest I don’t really know myself. It started out from something an old friend said to me and I picked that as a theme. Which I’ve rolled with and and just written it all down each day. There is lots I’m not entirely happy with already, but I am happy that the words keep flowing and I’ve not reached a block yet.
Will it be a novel in the end? Who knows, but although it’s the aim, I’m just happy with actually writing something. I’ve always wanted to write something and now I am!
In other news, there is not much going on. I’ve still not been out of the house, but I’m looking forward to the Little Man’s assembly today. He won’t tell us what it’s about but as it’s anti bullying week it could very well be related to that. Or even Children in Need? I’ll have to wait and see.
Now its over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Congratulations to you for taking on such a big challenge. Some of my longer posts are about 1,000 words. Judging from that, I would probably struggle to write more than that in one day. I hope we all get to see your novel when it’s finished! 🙂
I guess its easier when you are just writing without worrying about anyone having to read it. Of course if it turns out to be a decent story at the end I may go back and edit it before even thinking about sharing it 🙂
I love the idea of just writing and writing. Do you go back and edit, or is that meant to be done when you’re finished? Hope you enjoy the assembly. I do miss that level of involvement with school. Thanks for hosting.
I have a spell and grammer checker so I can fix any obvious errors, and I go back and read through the last chapter before starting the next. But other errors will probably be picked up on re-reading. I just like writing at the moment though. The assembly was brilliant, my boy was well behaved, sang two songs with his class and recited a poem that he’d written. I will miss it when he gets too old.
They do say we all have a novel in us! good luck with your writing!
I think if I was to write the story of my life it would be four novels! thanks x
Oh NaNoWriMo sounds really exciting! Best of luck with it. I would love to do a writing competition at some point…when I have more time 🙂 I hope we will get to read your finished work! #ThatFridayLinky
#WotW…I got the wrong hashtag lol. sorry.
I’ll forgive you just this once, lol
Not so sure it will be fit for reading at any point, but I’m enjoying the challenge.
It sounds like the writing is going really well. Good luck with it.
I hope it was a fab assembly x
Thanks x The Assembly was really good, I loved every minute (even took my special cushion for the chair so I could be comfy!)
