This has been a difficult week and even though I was sliding down slippery slope I really thought I’d reached the bottom. But no! It ended with a massive crash. The good news is that things are on the up now. I think we really did fall to the floor and now it’s time to start picking up the pieces. Well, I hope so, fingers tightly crossed. The week started good though and there was a fair measure of cake!
It was my eldest son’s birthday and I think he enjoyed his cake. I made it following the BBC Good food recipe and just for good measure I made another cake for the kids. This was just chocolate with buttercream and chocolate sprinkles and Star helped me to make it.
Never mind the Cake, Let’s Measure the Snow!
Last weekend we had a snowfall and I shared some snowy pics in my last post but I loved that my Little Man was obsessed with measuring how deep the snow was with his ruler.
I think the deepest snow he measured was 9cm which was on the trampoline. That’s not a bad snowfall really, I’m glad it didn’t last too long though. As well as measuring the snow he also made two snowmen with his brother.
It snowed again yesterday but it didn’t stick around which I was grateful for. It’s nice to experience a snowfall in winter, but I wouldn’t like to have to live with it for any length of time. It disrupted the beginning of the week for us with Graham not being able to get the car out of our grove to get my daughter to work. I was surprised that the shopping delivery turned up, but he did although he was nearly an hour late. Then he got stuck. I guess that’s what we get for living at the bottom of a hill.
I hope after last night things start to improve for you and your family!
What a yummy looking cake and happy birthday to your son.
How exciting to get the snow. We haven’t had any yet. x

Both cakes looks wonderful – I always like chocolate with a white buttercream frosting. Yum! #MMBC
I hope you are okay. That cake looks good! I use a lot of the BBC Good food recipes. They seem to work. #MMBC
I am glad to read that things are on the upswing for you, Anne, but so sorry you had to bottom out to get here. Both cakes look delicious!!! You are such a talented baker. And lucky to have a daughter to help you bake. We are having snow here today. It is supposed to snow all day today. Ugh!!! Where is spring?

We are very jealous of all your lovely snow. We never get snow in our bit of Kent. My eldest son is almost 9 and we haven’t had laying snow since he was 6 months old! #MMBC
Both of the cakes look delicious!! We had a birthday in our house this week too and we’re about all sugared out from our cake indulgence! Enjoy your snow; it sure is beautiful.
I could really go for a piece of that cake! Yum.
