Last week I shared a photo of the village Christmas tree which was spectacular. This week I’m sharing my Christmas tree, which is not as spectacular, but I’m happy with it.
It’s a new tree and bigger than our old one. I didn’t buy new decorations though. I think I’ve collected enough to decorate quite a few trees over the years. This tree contains some special decorations. We have a baby’s first Christmas from when Star was born, and three stuffed decorations, a white santa, a red santa and a snowman which my Mom bought me on her last ever outing. I have a little angel that my friend bought me and a heart that came in a Secret Santa gift. I have a big glass bauble that my eldest made for me when he worked at the Glassworks. It’s a tree full of memories. The angel on the top used to be a stand alone angel with light up wings, but when it stopped working I took out the heavy base and put it on the tree. I think she looks at home up there. She’s been atop my trees for about twenty years now.
Decorating My Christmas Tree
I was feeling a bit bah humbug this year. I wasn’t even sure I was going to put up the tree and decorations. I think the main reason was my lack of energy and bad timing of my hospital treatment. Tomorrow I will have to go to the hospital every day and I will be tired and worn out, next weekend I’ll probably be suffering from side effects. Then, yesterday morning, while I was getting dressed I came back down to find that Graham had cleared the corner where we were planning on putting the tree and already made a start on putting it up. When I was young I used to love to help my Mom decorate the tree, it was one of my favourite parts of Christmas. My kids have never been very interested in helping so I usually end up doing it all myself. It was lovely to have Graham’s help and we had the tree up and house decorated before lunchtime. It might not seem to much to you, but for me it was a Christmas miracle!
So now we have our Christmas tree up and all I have to do is get through next week and not have to worry about decorating for Christmas.
Do you have your tree up yet?
Ahh! That looks fab!
We have plenty of special decorations. Some the kids have made over the years and some that have special memories for us.
How lovely that Graham made a start on putting the tree up, what a great help. x

Really hope your week of hospital treatments hasn’t been too bad.
How lovely that Graham got the tree started for you and how nice to read about all your memories with the different decorations.
