The sofa is a major attraction of your living room inside your RV. It’s where you watch the television, relax, unwind, and take naps. But selecting a sofa for a recreational vehicle requires a lot of thought. A few of these are the amount of available space, weight, dimensions, color, and material. Not any sofa will do it. Most camper owners prefer those that fold out and can be used as a bed. What are some valuable tips while getting an RV couch replacement? Read on to know more.
It Should be Durable
Your sofa bed will be serving a double purpose. It will be a couch during the day and your bed at night. It is essential, therefore, that the sofa should be able to withstand these rigors. Those made from leather will usually be durable and can be easily cleaned. You should also check the joints. Solid ones are made from brackets, wooden corner blocks, and double wooden dowels. Avoid those that have staples, glue, and nails.
Select an Appropriate Size
Any couch you select should sit comfortably with the available space. The RV should not end up looking congested or stuffed after you have placed it. A good way is to measure the area at your disposal and then buy one according to that. As you will be pulling them out to a bed during nights, that is another thing you should check. Your height will determine the sofa’s selection. If you are tall, go with one that is at least eight feet long. Sofas for two people will also be larger than those for a single person.
Choose the Right Weight
You should be extremely wary about the weight of the sofa before buying it. Unlike your home, most recreational vehicles have certain weight restrictions. Those are decided by the manufacturer beforehand. Buying a couch that is too heavy on the slide could damage the slide mechanism. If you purchase a sofa that has an all-metal frame, it will be pretty weighty. The lightest ones are those that can be inflated and carried around easily. You should also know that heavier couches can also be difficult to unfold.
Color Should Blend Well
The color of your sofa should blend well with the rest of the furniture. It should not look out of place or be an eye-sore in any way. Some people like a dark chocolate color if their interiors are dark. It also helps in hiding pet hair or dust in general. A steel-gray color will match well with almost any type of interior decoration. Other colors that you could choose from are mahogany, putty, chestnut, and toffee.
Have Enough Storage Space in your RV Couch
It would be best if you utilized the last remaining bit of space inside your RV. A sofa that allows you to do that. Inflatable ones can easily be stored, as mentioned above. But you will also find sofas with extra storage space underneath. Two of the best options when it comes to extra storage space are jackknife and tri-fold sofa beds.
Getting an RV couch replacement will be easier if you follow some of the tips mentioned above. It would benefit you immensely if you try to get the perfect couch since that will be your hangout spot for most of the day. You can also show off an excellent couch to your friends.

the idea of traveling around the States in an RV is a dream of ours
I would love a camper van to travel around the UK. Once the kids are old enough for us to go alone I’m getting one for sure!
We’ve been travelling around Australia in our caravan and it’s an awesome way to live. I can’t wait for the world to right itself again so we can RV around both the USA and the UK.
