Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Pokemon’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – pokemon
Last weekend the new Pokemon Legends Arceus game was released and it’s been a Pokemon type of week. The big kids and younger ones have all been playing and taking over my television when they can. Big thanks to Nintendo for making the Switch which means they can carry on their game on the hand held device when I demand to watch my programs.
My big kids have been Pokemon fans for more than 20 years and the youngers ones followed suit. I remember them having the first games on their Game Boys and then DS. They watched the Pokemon television series, collected Pokemon Plushies and cards. They were really into the card games and I used to take them to tournaments. We’ve watched Pokemon movies in the cinemas and on television. And we all played Pokemon Go on our mobile phones, yes, even me.
I’ve made many, many Pokemon birthday cakes over the years, Pikachu, Charmander, Fennekin, Charizard just to name a few. We’ve also carved many a Pokemon in our pumpkins for Halloween.
Here is a super quick video of my Fennekin Cake. I think it’s one of my favourites.
In other news, The Little Man managed to fall off the trampoline during a p.e. lesson on Monday. He got his foot stuck and managed to hurt his little toe, but the bruising goes all along the bottom of his toes. He hasn’t complained much though.
Graham had his Speed Awareness course to save having points on his licence after being caught speeding. He wasn’t going ridiculously fast but he was caught on camera. He seems to have learned a lot from the course though and I hope it sticks with him.
I had a zoom meeting with the psychologist that helped with the Little Man’s diagnosis and she gave me some useful information. We need to speak to his school now.
Boo has been doing really well with going to school. She has managed two full weeks which is a big achievement for her. We nearly slipped up yesterday when her glasses broke just before they were about to leave for school. She wouldn’t go without them and started to panic. Graham took the Little Man to school so he wouldn’t be late, then he came back and fixed her glasses and I spoke to the school so she could go in late. She only missed one lesson.
Graham has had two nights out this week, doing Open Mic nights. He loves taking his guitar and having a sing. He so deserves a break sometime. And so do I, but I get my chance next week as my friend is taking me to see Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
My son used to be heavily into Pokemon when he was younger. I remember him constantly wanting my phone whilst we were out to play Pokemon Go. He isn’t as bothered nowadays but he won’t let me get rid of his Pikachu just yet.
Hope you enjoy the ballet.
My adult children are still heavily into Pokemon. I bet we have some real treasures around our home with the things they have collected.
It sounds like your whole family has been loving the new Pokemon game. I rememeber the original games years ago. Pokemon is something which has lasted a long time.
Ouchie, I hope you Little Man’s foot is feeling better now. My youngest has been doing trampolining at school in PE and I am always a bag of nerves on a Monday expecting a phone call home.
Naughty Graham for speeding but it sounds like he’s learned his lesson.
That is great news that Boo has been going to school so well. I am so pleased. x
My two never caught the Pokemon bug – not sure if it’s a good or a bad thing! I would love to go to see Nutcraker 🙂 Glad Little Man is getting sorted.
I’ve played Pokemon Go a few times but it’s not something we’ve ever really got into. Love the Fennekin cake. The Switch is so good for being able to switch from the TV to hand-held isn’t it? Sorry to hear about Little Man’s toe – hope the bruising heals soon and glad the Zoom meeting with the psychologist was helpful. Well done to Boo for managing two full weeks and I’m glad Graham was able fix her glasses quickly and school were understanding with her going in late. The Open Mic nights sound like fun. Hope you have a lovely time seeing the Nutcracker. #WotW
We haven’t got a big Pokemon interest here yet but we have watched the newest film and Little E does have a game for her switch. It sounds like you have had a very positive week. The open mic nights sound fun. I’m glad you get a night out too. I need to put my order in for one of those I think #WotW
