Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Changes’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Changes
This week has been my IVIG treatment week at hospital. I didn’t feel like going to hospital, at first it felt like it would be okay because my children are on their Easter holiday from school and it would be a welcome change not to have to juggle picking them up from school and me from hospital. I didn’t like that I wouldn’t be able to spend that time with my children while they were on holiday. But it was only three days so we do have the rest of the holiday together. There have been other changes to deal with though.
The hospital has been renovated and our wards have moved to another floor. There were lots of changes to deal with. I used to like change but since being sick I’ve found it more difficult to deal with. On the last ward I knew exactly where I would park my wheelchair and how I would manage to go to the toilet if I needed to. The new ward is set out differently and there was no room for anything. On the first day the nurses had to keep pushing my table out of the way just to get to the sinks and the bins (Which was every 5 mins.) The second day was a little better but I did have further to walk to the toilet. They did manage to fit in my wheelchair beside me though. The third day I was situated right next to the toilet. Great if I needed to go, but my wheelchair had to be pushed in front of the medicine cabinet and the nurses had to keep moving it to get the drugs out. No-one complained, but I’m overly sensitive about these things and felt I was causing an obstruction just by being there. There were some nice changes though, everything was clean and new and there were some lovely murals on the walls.
Other changes this week included the weather. Urgh, I had to go out in the rain, only a short run from the house to the car and the car to the hospital, but I hate getting wet. I used to love going out in the rain but not anymore, I don’t know if it’s because I’m sitting down, you seem to get a lot wetter and their is no chance of being covered by an umbrella. Then Thursday, when I didn’t have to go out, it was warm and sunny. I’m hoping it continues over the weekend, I’ve been promised that my garden grass will get cut if it stays dry. I’m almost tempted to go for the wild garden look and not bother, it’s not like I can get up the garden anyway, I may as well look out over a wilderness!
This weekend is going to see some big changes to routine. As well as it being the Easter weekend, it’s also my niece’s 30th birthday and we have been invited to her party. It’s fancy dress, 90s style. I may have some photos to share, if I’m allowed.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
You can always rely on change. They say wildlife gardens are the way to go! You’ll be helping the pollinators and the environment 🙂 Hope your niece’s party goes well.
Most of the changes sound good. It sounds like the new ward will take some getting used to. I am sure you weren’t causing an obstruction. I bet the nurses are still getting used to the new set up too.
I am hoping the weather stays like it has been for the last couple of days for a while. It’s been really warm here, could be a bit sunnier but I’m not complaining.
Have a great weekend and have a fab time at your niece’s 30th birthday x
