I know it’s January but I just wanted to share a delicious treat I made myself the other day. I received my Degustabox for the month and it was full of breakfast and brunch treats. One of these was some Fruit Crunch Rye Bread with currants, seeds and oats. They were stunning, really yummy even on their own, but having watched the television advertisement I decided to add a little more -ish. This was one of my cracker breads with chocolate spread and summer fruits.
I bought a multi pack of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries which are a bit pricey at this time of the year. But then isn’t all out of season fruit and vegetables. I’m old enough to remember that you were not able to buy these all year around. I went into a green grocers when I was in my 20s and asked for Satsumas in in the summer, they laughed at me! Anyway, I digress. I don’t really have much joy to report this week, but when you find something you find delicious it’s always nice to share and I appreciate that we can buy summer fruit in January, even if you have to pay a little more.
The cracker bread was soon consumed, it seemed I wasn’t the only family member who enjoyed it. Sadly, there is no replacement in this weeks shop as Sainsburys had none in stock. The rest of the summer fruit left went really nice on this mornings muesli, which was also a treat from my Degustabox. (a previous review!)
It’s been so cold, windy and wet this week hasn’t it. I’m glad it’s a little sunnnier today but it’s very cold. I haven’t been out apart from a visit to the GP, can you believe it, I got a double appointment for myself and Boo!
Boo hasn’t really had much experience with doctors and it was strange to see her so nervous. I’m more used to seeing Star who is incredibly used to appointments of all kinds and rarely gets phased. My poor Boo has an infection which has scared her a little, but it’s easily treatable. It’s hard when you have a sick child, the other’s may get a little neglected. I do check in on them often though to make sure they are okay.
We are hoping that healthy eating will keep us on a better track. Star has to see a dietician next week as she is extremely underweight. We already know that her body is not absorbing nutrients as it should so we are hoping that dietary advice will help. (I don’t expect to learn much though, I have been here before.)
Summer fruits are a good start! Even combined with chocolate spread. Everything in moderation!
It looks crunchy and delicious. I always like to eat such summer fruits…
Have a great week!

Looks delicious Anne- I love berries, try to eat them every day with my porridge 🙂
I hope you all have a good week and that Boo gets better from the infection soon
Oh wow! That looks so good.
It is rubbish that fruit at this time of year costs more but at least we can still get it.
I am glad the weather seems to have brightened up, the sun is shining here but it’s still so cold.
Poor Boo, I hope she is feeling better now.
This looks like a tasty, yummy snack! I made fruit crumble yesterday with frozen raspberries and blueberries, it was good to bring a bit of summer into a grey January day!

This looks lovely, berries are my fave!
Summer fruits not only are beautiful and tasty but also they have great nutrients for our health. Yum I love the love of your fruit and bread. #MMBC
Looks yummy and a fab idea, I’ll do some for hubby on the weekend
Oh yum! That looks so delicious. Because it’s summer over here you can pick up lots of summer fruit at reasonable prices so I will have to try them on crunchy rye bread and chocolate. I do hope that Boo is feeling better. And fingers crossed that hopefully, this dietician may have some answers for Star that can help.
That does look delicious! Sorry to hear Boo has been ill and I hope she’s on the mend now. I hope Star gets the support she needs this time too.
This looks so summery during what is such a cold winter! Thanks for linking up and for sharing your snaps with #MySundaySnapshot.
