My daughter loves to experiment with food and we have been getting take out meals from a restaurant that sells Poke Bowls. They are really tasty, but they are also really expensive. So she has been having a go at making her own Poke Bowl. This is what she made me the other night.
Poke Bowls are originally Hawaiian and feature mostly fish or sea food. But as a kind of fusion between Hawaiian and Japanese food culture you can basically throw anything you like in a bowl. Probably not traditional, but this bowl is actually made with Tofu flavoured with a Gochujang sauce which is actually Korean. I think we have added an extra fusion of flavouring there! The egg on the top helps to cool down the spices and adds an different texture. You can also add a soup base to the bowl and replace rice with noodles.
Biscuit and Cake
We haven’t done much this school holiday, it’s flown by so quickly. We did go on holiday which was great. (My eldest wants to go away again as soon as possible! If only I had the money.) Star has mostly been residing in her bedroom by day and downstairs taking over the television for her gaming at night. The Little Man has been out a few times with his Dad. Boo, has had the best time of all after joining a youth club with her friends. They have been out on trips like boating and paintball, and have had the opportunity to hang out together doing activities like cake and biscuit decorating. She came home with these the one day.
If you ask the kids they’ll probably say they’ve had a great holiday. So I’ll take that as a win despite not being able to do much with them. I think being mostly housebound myself has not been so frustrating this year. Plus the weather hasn’t been too fantastic this past month has it! I’ve not even missed having BBQs.
That Poke Bowl looks delicious! We found a new restaurant the other day where you can build your own so everybody in the family was happy with their unique choices 🙂

Yes, you can build your own at our local restaurant but it’s so expensive.
Your poke bowl looks really tasty. I would enjoy that I think. I’ve never had one before. #MMBC
You can put whatever you want in a poke bowl which is the best thing about it. you can swap rice for noodles, have a soup base, use vegetable or add meat. It’s all about the presentation in the end.
Oh wow, my mouth is watering! That poke bowl looks incredible!
It tasted incredible too. I am a big fan of Tofu, but it’s even nicer when full of flavour like this was
Oh wow! That poke bowl looks amazing! I think my family would love to eat that.
It sounds like you all had a good summer, especially Boo. x
Poke Bowls are great and so easy to put together. We did have a good summer, but it was over too quickly!
The poke bowl looks amazing! I never would have guessed it was home made, it looks so professional. It’s good to hear that the kids have enjoyed their summer. I think teenagers are often content to take life easy and get a fair bit of downtime at home.
My daughter is a good chef when she’s in the mood. The kid’s have enjoyed the holiday in their own ways
This looks yummy! I reckon my lot would enjoy this.
I’m so glad that you managed to have a lovely holiday, you should be very proud of yourself. You’re an amazing mum! xx
Thank you Jayne x
Those biscuits look delicious! Thanks for sharing and for taking part in #MySundaySnapshot.
