I’ve had less time to watch television lately because my family have taken over the tv to play their games. So I guess I’ve been watching a lot of Kingdom Hearts, seeing as Star had a box set of all 13 games for her birthday! To be fair, she’s most been playing after I’ve gone to bed, sometimes staying up until the early hours. I’ve also watched my daughter play Detroit: Become Human again, but this time in Japanese, which was very weird for me, but she wanted to practice her understanding of the language. Then my son has been playing Alan Wake which a scary psychological game. I love that it’s based on the story of an author with writer’s block who is living his unwritten horror story. I love the Stephen King references, he was always one of my favourite horror writers.
I still get my weekends though so I’ve managed to get a bit of television watching done.
The Lincoln Lawyer
This is a series currently of two parts but I’m waiting for part three. I stumbled on it and although it’s not really the sort of thing I’d watch I found it fascinating. Mickey Haller is a lawyer that runs his firm from the back of his Lincoln car. But then another big lawyer is murdered and he leaves his offices to him. He is a defence lawyer so it’s interesting to see things from a different side as most of these type of programs or films have to prove the person guilty, not innocent. Ironically, his first ex wife is a prosecution lawyer. His Second ex wife is working for him along with her current fiancé. (A bit strange but it works.) The show is fast action and full of interesting court scenes. I became thoroughly hooked and breezed through both series. You can catch it on Netflix.
Who Is Erin Carter?
This dropped on Netflix and the preview looked really good. There is plenty of action but I did find it a little boring in places too. Finding out who Erin Carter really was made it more interesting and I’m glad I persisted watching because the ending was really good. I can’t really say much more about the series without giving it all away, but Erin Carter is a (very) strong woman who will do ‘anything’ to protect her daughter. It is a good watch and I did kind of binge watch the last few episodes.
Glitch
I think I was recommended Glitch because I’d previously watched the OA. There were some similarities. It starts with dead bodies coming out of their graves fit and healthy and definitely not zombies. They are taken by a policeman, James, to the local doctor’s surgery. One of the dead people is the policeman’s wife, Kate, who died of cancer.
The series is set in a fictional country town in Australia. Those that returned from the dead have no memories of who they are, but throughout the series they have ‘flashbacks’ as they learn more about themselves and their history. Some have been dead a lot longer than others, but they come back the age they were when they died.
By the end of the first series we discover that there is someone trying to get rid of the resurrected but the doctor is trying real hard to keep them safe. As is the police officer, even though he has re-married and his current wife is expecting a baby.
In the second series we find out more about those that came back but they are all in danger and they are all trapped by an invisible ever closing circle which reduces them to dust if they pass through.
I really enjoyed the first two series and will be starting the third real soon. It’s supernatural, and totally hard to believe, but it’s also a story about life and death and how it affects everyone.
Super Intelligence
This is a quirky sci-fi romance which caught my eye. A Super Intelligent computer has decided to end the world but has given Carol, whom it considers ‘the most average person on earth’ the chance to stop the Armageddon.
The computer can contact her through almost any device, including her coffee machine, so she can’t escape it. It wants her to go back to her ex and revive their relationship and prove that life is worth saving.
The whole story is over the top and really quite daft, but it’s a good watch and very funny at times.
Will Carol Save the world or will the computer choose one of it’s other options? More importantly will Carol get back with her ex George? (Yes, it’s really that daft, but a good fun watch if you’re bored.)
What have you been watching lately?
I’ve also have a 3 month free subscription to Disney+ so I’ll be checking out what they have to offer.
I’m also a member of Amazon Prime and there are a few things that have caught my eye on there too.
All of the gaming sounds like fun.
I saw a clip of Who is Erin Carter and it’s on my list of things to watch and I love the sound of Glitch.
I am watching everything on Amazon Prime at the moment since I have a 30 day free trial. Fear The Walking Dead at the moment and then I’m going to watch Good Omens. x
I love Good Omens. Of course I’d already read the first book. It’s a bit strange but David Tennant and Michael Sheen work so well together. The second series is good too, but I do think that Neil Gaiman wrote it to keep the fans happy and it lacks a little of the Pratchett touch. I think you would like Glitch.
I watched Erin Carter and really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen any of the others but they sound interesting especially Glitch which I hadn’t heard of before. What an interesting plot and set in Australia! I’m off from work on school holidays at the moment so I have more time to watch shows and catch up on blogs. Yay!
I don’t know about any of these; I vaguely remember hearing about Lincoln Lawyer before but not the other ones. I’m always on the hunt for something new to watch.
