This week has been a strange one, we’ve had the return to school which would be my obvious word of the week. Boo and the Little Man went back to primary school on Wednesday and Star started secondary school on Thursday. Such a big step for Star but I will talk about that later.
The weather has been good, we’ve had a little rain but the sun still shines in between and my flowers that I finally brought for the garden are blooming lovely. I can’t believe that summer is nearly over.
So why have I chosen wet as my word of the week?
We were woken up at 6am on Thursday morning by my eldest daughter who had a leak in her bathroom. Her bedroom was flooded and it had come through the ceiling and down the walls just outside our bedroom below. In fact the carpet on the landing outside our bedroom door was also wet.
OH quickly fetched a bucket and the mop and started cleaning up. My daughter had been bright enough to know how to turn off the water supply to stop the leak. I felt pretty useless as I find it difficult to even get up to my daughter’s room. OH did a great job though.
We had the pipe fixed as an emergency within a couple of hours. It was the fault of a simple washer.
I’ve had problems like this in the past but they’ve always been downstairs. In our old house the downstairs toilet pipe would often pull apart after a flush and there would be a flood of water. We had fixed lots of times but it still kept happening.
Also the downstairs bathroom in this house has flooded once or twice since we have been here (Again faulty washers.)
But this is the first time we’ve had a flood upstairs and experienced water leaking through the ceiling. I’m kind of thankful that we hadn’t got around to painting the landing yet, now we will have to think about it pretty soon as I’m sure there will be water stains.
One good thing came out of it, it inspired my daughter to give her shower a good clean.
I like your silver lining. We had a leak under the bath, which came through the ceiling. Such a pain. We had to wait for a part, which meant no baths for a week. I'm glad yours was sorted quickly. #wotw
Oh dear…I'm glad you found a positive in it all….What an annoyance. At least it's been fixed now. I hope you have no more water problems x
Oh no, what a pain, and certainly something you don't want to wake up to. Good thinking on your daughter's part and glad it's all sorted now x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
What a drama to wake up to! So glad you got it sorted. x
So glad that you managed to get the pipe fixed so quickly and well done to your daughter for knowing what to do. Hopefully everything has dried out well! #WotW
Oh bother glad it got sorted and glad the rest of the week was hassle free X #wotw
That's just what you don't want to wake up to isn't it?! Glad your daughter thought about turning it off and hope you get back to normal again soon. #wotw
Awww that sounds bad! Our T&B is at the second floor and it leaks on the kitchen. So my kitchen has ugly ceiling =( #wotw
