Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week, a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is animals and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase but please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week.
There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK.
Animals
How are the school holidays going for you? So far we’ve have a birthday, a few haircuts and the Little Man has had a sleepover at his uncle’s house.
This week we’ve also had a couple of days out and they have both involved animals. Today we are off at the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Centre which we have visited many times before. We are meeting up with some local SEND families which should be fun.
Although we are a bit concerned about it being next to the cricket ground and some ‘big’ cricket match on! Hoping we’ll be there early enough to get a parking place.
Yesterday we got to see some exotic animals from Exotic Zoo. The kids fell in love. Star desperately wants a snake, and Boo wants a meerkat and The Little Man a bearded lizard. I think we should settle for a tortoise! I love snakes and lizards, but the thought of feeding them live creatures eek! It’s bad enough when the cats chase the birds.
I’ll leave you with a few photos from our day.
We also met a skunk called Tilly, a tortoise called Rosie, and a sweet tiny hedgehog called Lisa.
Now it’s your turn to let us know what you’ve been up to this week.
It sounds like your summer is going well so far, hope you found a parking spot at the conservation centre easily. Getting to see and hold animals you wouldn’t normally be able to is such good fun isn’t it. My cousin has a snake, a bearded dragon and a tarantula and I honestly don’t know how she stands to feed them the live food, I certainly couldn’t! Have a lovely weekend x
We got their nice and early and secured a great spot. Loads more animals today!!
I love the photos of the animals. Sophie has held a snake and a chameleon before but never got so close to a meerkat. How amazing to be able to see them up close and hold them. That little hedgehog is adorable too. I’m with you on being a bit squeamish about feeding snakes live creatures. Tortoises are lovely though – my sister used to have one. Hope you have a lovely day out today and thank you for hosting #WotW
The tiny hedgehog was just like a hairbrush with a nose 🙂 Meerkats are brilliant, but very fast!
Who doesn’t love meerkats, Anne? You can keep your lizards and snakes for sure! #WotW
We are still getting, can I have a snake every five minutes from my daughter! Meerkats are so friendly, they love to say hello with a kiss (well, eskimo kiss, they rub their noses on you.) I’ve never been so close to one before.
It sounds like you’ve had a great week. What a lot of animals.
I hope today went well and you got parked OK.
The exotic zoo looks like fun. Not my cup of tea but my girls would love it. Fab photos! x
That Wildlife Conservation Center looks awesome! I have to think my grandkids would love it! Too bad we don’t live closer. I’m glad to hear that your summer is going well. It’s really speeding by, isn’t it?
I do love it when the children (and me…ok, mainly me) go to sessions like this one. No wonder your lot have come home with a shopping list. Lovely to see a meerkat close up. Oh and the hedgehog. Still trying to track our wild one down. See signs, but not the spiky fellow. Thanks for hosting. #wotw
