Local Christmas Tree lights switch on
The local Christmas Tree full of pretty lights always makes us feel cheery when we drive past. I updated a post last year that I’d first published in 2015. It showed the Christmas tree lit up and the amazing Carillon. There is nothing nicer than carols being played by the bells of the Carillon.
This year I really wanted to go to see the Christmas tree lights festival so we wrapped up warm and went out.
Selly Manor
First though, we visited Selly Manor. I’ve never visted before and I wish I had as it’s only down the road and I could have gone when I was able to walk. (Like in the post I linked to earlier.) But I guess we always think there is time to do stuff. Like seeing the Christmas Lights turn on. Six years we’ve lived here and this year was the first time.
Here’s a couple of photos from the Manor House including this fabulous Tudor Feast..Pig’s head anyone?
Being in my wheelchair I was unable to go upstairs so I was limited in what I could see. The floors where very rickety too. The gardens were small but pretty. I’d like to go back and see them in the summer.
Christmas Lights Festival
The festival itself was pretty impressive with stalls everywhere. There were characters dressed up too, like this Tall Christmas Tree. Also, you could visit Father Christmas in his sleigh, but my kids are a little too old for that now. We did venture into the gift shop in the centre of the village green. It’s a lovely unique little shop, but it was also very crowded.
I also like the trees that had lights glowing on them, they changed colour after a while, they looked beautiful.
It was only the second time I had left my home in November, the first time was a hospital appointment on the 1st! So I went out on the first and last day of the month only. I will be needing to go out a little more in December, I have a school Christmas fete on Monday, and then I’m taking the girls to see The Nutcracker next Thursday. The following week it’s the Little Man’s Christmas performance, last years was brilliant so they have a lot to live up to. Suddenly it’s Christmas again, how did that happen?
I’m glad you got to go out. It looks like there was plenty to see and do. Fab photos x
I absolutely love an old home, and if it’s done up for Christmas even more so! It’s these little things that make December for me!
So glad you got out of the house, it looks like it was worth the trip! The tall Christmas tree character looks amazing.
Loving the lights- we drove around town the other day to see as many peoples decorations as we possibly could. Thanks for linking up and for sharing your snaps with #MySundaySnapshot.
Glad you got out of the house. Those Christmas lights are so festive and pretty xx
