Banksy in Birmingham.
Yesterday My husband was out in Birmingham and got his friend to take this photo of him near the Banksy reindeers.
Banky painted this on a wall in a street where I used to work many years ago. If I’d have still been working there I’d have to walk past it every day, but so far I’ve not been to see it. I will one day, it’s been a long time since I went to the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.
Yesterday my husband and his friends had to pass the mural and obviously took the chance to take some photos.
Reindeers.
Painted in December last year the mural was painted next to a bench where a homeless person had been sleeping. A strong message about how we value the joy of Christmas while some do not even have a roof over their heads.
Shortly after it was painted it was vandalized by someone painting red noses on the reindeer. So now the mural is protected by a sheet of perspex. The vandal is also a graffiti artist and a fan of Banksy. He claimed he added the red noses because there was more focus on the artwork than the message of homelessness.
There have been mixed reactions since it’s appearance. A lot of people have been to visit the mural which has meant more custom to the area, but it has also resulted in further parking issues. As someone who used to park there every day I can understand this.
Do you have a banksy mural near you? What do you think of his reindeers?

That is fabulous! I’m glad they’ve protected it from further vandalism. And the photo of your husband posing with it is wonderful. Well done!

I love them! We had a Banksy near us and it was fantastic, but it also go vandalised and there were also issues over the ownership of the house and all sorts of other nonsense, until the homeowner basically redid the outside of the house and it was gone. Such a shame.

oh my, I’d feel privileged to have a Banksy Mural on the side of my house. I guess I can understand why people don’t really appreciate graffiti though.
hehehe! What a fun photo!
I remember seeing the photo of the homeless man with the raindeers.
I don’t think there is any Banksy artwork near us. x

I’m not familiar with Banksy but love the mural! #MMBC
That is brilliant. I love the mural, so clever. xx #silentsunday
Great photo!
I really like this one. I love how it interacts with the bench. We have a fair few Banksy artworks in Bristol, not surprisingly. In fact lots of wall art in general now. You can get guided tours around the city to see all the graffiti. Quite a thing! #mmbc
I love positional photos – this is so awesome! Thanks so much for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
