Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘13th Birthday’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – 13th Birthday
This week Boo celebrated her 13th birthday, she is now officially a teenager.
She had a friend around for lunch. We were hoping it would be a picnic but the weather was pretty dismal. They still had a lovely time though. Boo seemed happy enough.
I bought her a laptop for her birthday. It was more than I would normally spend on a birthday, but I’d just received the refund for her school France trip. And it was her 13th, which is a special birthday to have without being able to go out or have a party. She also had a t-shirt which was from the US. We teased her all day for flexing her merch. (I have no idea why it was such a big deal but the other kids found it hilarious!) Do you think I would have been flexing my merch. when I wore my Fonz t-shirt back in 1978 when I was 13? 😀
I made her a cake. She didn’t want anything special, just a blue cake, I bought her some gold number candles to go on top, and Star decorated it with some sprinkles.
My Little Boo is growing up and I’m sure she’s going to make a lovely young lady. The teen years will hopefully pass without too much trouble.
On Thursday we went to Cosford Air Force Museum. This had been planned for Graham’s birthday back in February half term. When I was too sick to go I said it’s okay we can go next half term. Then we ended up in Lockdown. So we went yesterday and had a lovely day. It was bit of a rocky start as our new teenager decided to throw a strop because she didn’t want to go. It turned out that she had the best day out of everyone, she was asking her Dad so many questions about the planes, which in turn made his day real special too. I got to see how unfit my kids have become. I’m used to Star sitting down all the time, but it was sad to see the other two getting worn out too. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day and we spent a lot of time sitting outside in the sunshine.
Hopefully, I’ll be writing soon to let you know what a great day we had.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Happy Birthday Star! I was about to say that 13 seems like such a long time ago now…well that may be because it was. I need to stop denying my age I think, haha! The air force museum sounds brilliant, I’m glad you enjoyed it so much 🙂 Happy to see that we are getting some lovely weather this weekend too, hopefully you can spend much of it in the garden with some birthday cake…if there’s any left? #wotw
Happy birthday, Boo. Love the cake. Simple but really sweet! Weather pretty groim over here too, Anne! #WotW
