I have never heard of this before. It sounds like fruit cake but the two months of booze pouring is throwing me. Does it taste super boozy when you eat it? How does the cake stay good for so long? Is it wet or just moist? So many questions, I’m so intrigued! Also it looks absolutely stunning.

The cake is kept wrapped in greaseproof paper in an air tight tin. The alcohol is added, just one tablespoon a week. (I sprinkle it over the base, then next time the top of the cake) I use brandy, but you can use anything really, it acts as a preservative. The end result, when you take it out to ice it, should be a rich, moist but not wet, cake which smells and tastes boozy, but also delicious. It’s not one for the kids or drivers though!

I often find that I prefer my own cooking to store bought things too! I think nothing beats that homemade taste. You have a beautiful diary there. #MMBC

I hope it went well for you at the hospital. We’ve still got some Christmas chocolate left and we’re going to buy my dad some mince pies (he definitely needs to put weight on after Covid) as the ones in Sainsbury’s have got an April date on them.
Love that you’re getting back to writing a diary every day. I’ve done this every day since I was 10! The problem is that my handwriting is horrendous and I often can’t even read what I wrote the previous day.
