Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Down’ and you can read more about that below.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU WISH TO LINK UP! FROM NOW ON, THOSE NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES WILL BE DELETED.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. And please only add one post to the link up each week, multiple posts will be deleted. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week. Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
I also have a new link up open on Mondays for your recipes and food related posts. And, if you like to write bookish posts don’t forget my link up on my other blog At Home A Lot, Bookworms Monthly.
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Down
I’m sorry, I’ve tried to be more positive lately with a great post on my progress last week. But this week I’ve taken a nose dive and I’m way down.
I had a great weekend, Saturday was spent at the theatre seeing Drifter’s Girl, and Sunday I went to the supermarket. I guess two days out in a row took a toll on my body, but it was more than that.
Monday was going ok but then someone upset me, and it was a real bad upset. A total smack down. I haven’t fell so low in ages. I took some sleeping pills (not enough to be dangerous) and slept (eventually.) I was a bit unsure that anyone would be able to wake me anytime soon so I left a note by my bed just in case. Four hours later my eldest knocked the door and told me that dinner was ready. They thought I was sick and left me to recover, and in they took care of everything. I managed to wake up and eat a little before going back to bed.
The next day I was still down and to be honest I was at breaking point. But I kept going.
I’d like to say the week got better but it didn’t as another family member had a breakdown. How do you cope with looking after someone else when you feel so down yourself? ‘Just be there for me’ I was asked…but then I open my mouth and a whole lot of bad (not angry bad, just bad) comes out. I am not down. I am rock bottom.
I have had some really good news this week but I’ll share that when I can actually feel some happy about it.
Today I have blood tests…I don’t mind that. Tomorrow, at 8am on a Saturday, I have an ultrasound on the naughty nodules. I don’t mind that either. I have the theatre to look forward to again next week, I’m going to see Blood Brother’s with my Sister-in- law.
This feeling down wont last.
But for now, I’ll leave it to you. What word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Oh no! Sending love and hugs. It sounds like a rotten week for you. I am glad you have some good news, I hope the weekend and next week are better for you. x
I’m feeling a little better now, I’ll get through this, and I’ll be sharing my good news soon. I’m not sure everyone would be as excited as me though x
Oh no! I’m sorry this week has not been good for you. I’m glad family rallied round to give you time to rest. Also how lovely to have a theatre trip to look forward to. Maybe not so much the hospital trips, but it’s good that they don’t bother you. You are right about it not lasting. It will pass, but awful when you are in the midst of it. I’ve always admired how you find silver linings. That is a skill in itself.
I’m so looking forward to the theatre, I think it’s become a bit of an addiction. I’ve been to a ballet and musical, then there is Blood Brothers, followed by Six with my girls, and we’ve also booked another ballet called Luna (I don’t know much about it but it looks interesting and love ballet.) I’m always looking for silver linings.
I’m so sorry that you’ve had such a tough week Anne and are feeling so down. That was lovely that your eldest took care of things while you were sleeping on Monday. I hope things start to feel brighter for you and for your family member too. It is so hard to try and support someone else when you are low yourself. I’m glad that you’ve had some good news and I hope you have a nice theatre trip next week and that next week will be a better one for you all. Lots of love xxx
Thank you Louise, I’m trying to take a tip from you and treat it like a wave, although it was quite overwhelming earlier in the week, we are working our way through.
I am so sorry you’ve had such a sh!t week. You are right it will pass but it’s hard when it’s all going on. Glad your eldest looked after you and everything else whilst you got some sleep. I love Blood Brothers! it’s my favourite musical. Hope you have a fab time xx
I was surprised but my kids came through for me. I’ve not seen Blood Brothers before so I’m looking forward to it x
I am sorry you had a rotten week. These things happen. I’m glad though that you are trying to rise above it. Looking forward to the good news. And so glad your kids came through for you too.
