Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘coping’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Coping
I’m sorry to harp on about the return to school but it really is a big thing for us. For the Little Man it’s been a return to routine which he has very much needed. For the girls it’s been a huge step and they have had a lot to deal with, but we are coping.
The Little Man’s Biggerfive Fitness Tracker, (affiliate link) has been a big success. I will probably write a review about it when I get the chance, but it wasn’t a gift, we did some research and decided to purchase it. He uses it every day and is determined to reach his step goal. He also likes to check his sleep pattern each morning. The biggest thing about him returning to school is the extra activity and exercise he will get. At home he doesn’t do much at all. In the summer he would go out on the trampoline, but during winter he did nothing. We even tried the Switch Ring Fit, but he feels uncomfortable exercising in the house with everyone watching. He is coping really well with all the extra activity at school though, and even though he is more tired, I can already see him looking healthier.
The Girls have both been back to school on a phased return and have slowly been returning to their actual classrooms. The first couple of days went surprisingly well and Boo even woke up one morning and told me she was really excited to be back at school. Then on Wednesday there was a fight in Star’s class between a couple of girls. It was an actual fist fight and Star had to leave the class as she couldn’t cope with it even though it wasn’t aimed at her. Thankfully her SENDco helped her and she went back to the next lesson feeling much better. I’m really proud of both of my girls.
I have been coping with actually being alone for a while. I love my kids around and it’s hard to adjust but I’m getting there. I haven’t been coping too well with my pain levels lately but I’m back into hospital for treatment next Friday. I have a weird week. I start on Friday, come home for the weekend, then it’s back from Monday to Thursday. I need five days of infusions and the following week it’s Good Friday so they are open for emergencies only. It has it’s benefits though, I should be feeling better by Easter Sunday 🙂
That’s my week for now, how have you been coping?
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Is Too Much Information a Threat to our Humanity?
Poor Star! Madam gets upset if anything like that happens too. I’m glad their return to school has gone well apart from that, and Little Man too.
It’s gone a lot better than I expected. They all were upset by something or other on Friday though, I’m dreading Monday now.

Coping is a good word.
I am glad the return to school is going pretty well and that is great news about the girls being back in school. Shame about the girls in Star’s class fighting though. Fingers crossed things continue to go well.
I have my first day alone this year on Wednesday and I can’t wait. hehehe
So sorry you haven’t been feeling great. Good luck with the treatment. x

It’s so weird being alone. I mean my eldest is always here but he generally stays in bed all day so he can stay up all night. So it still feels like I’m alone.

It’s good that you are all coping. I love that you have something that helps Little Man get more active. I’m looking forward to the swimming opening again as Ethan needs his weekly exercise too. Poor Star I wonder why the girls felt they needed to fight! I’m glad Star had the support she needed to return to the classroom. I hope all your treatments go well #WotW
I am so needing my treatments right now, fingers crossed I get some energy back again. Three months is so long between treatments but it didn’t work have smaller doses more frequently. Getting the kids back into exercise is a major task for me, I’m glad I’ve got the school to help.

I think going back this time is a big deal. Before it’s lined up with conventional start dates that we’re all used to. This time it was a maybe and in the middle of a term. I’m glad the back to school has worked out well for your two girls. Good for Star going back in after the fight and Boo for looking forward to her day. I’ve not had a day alone yet. I still have my husband and Eldest Teen here. I love my FitBit, so I completely understand the fun Little Man is getting from his fitness tracker. I hope next week works out well with the start of your hospital visits.
I remember when I had my Fitbit, It really encouraged to be more active. I’m hoping he does start to lose some weight. I don’t want to obsess about it but he really is fat for his age. No-one else in the family is overweight (Apart from me but that’s expected because of all my drugs and inactivity) I am thinking he is due a growth spurt because he’s a little short for his age. Thinking about it, all his physical development has been delayed. He didn’t even walk or talk until he was 2.

So glad that your children are coping well with being back at school and that the fitness tracker is helping encourage Little Man to be more active. Having to cope with a fist fight at school sounds stressful – I’m glad that Star’s SENDco helped her with that. Hope that your treatment goes well and helps with the pain. #WotW
I’m happy that they are coping too. I am also hoping that my treatment helps with my pain. I’m getting to the stage now where I’m desperate to be stuck in hospital plugged into infusions. That’s a bit of a strange wish.
