Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘over’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – OVER
Don’t worry, Word of the week isn’t over, I don’t have any plans of ending it just yet. But it sure feels like Summer is over. The Kids will be back at school and college (oh that feels weird to say) next week and the sun has gone AWOL. Even the late heatwave we’ve been promised hasn’t emerged, so yes, I think it’s really over.
The Summer holiday has passed in a flash. We started with Boo’s birthday, then our holiday, quickly followed by The Little Man’s birthday and a few days out before it was Star’s birthday. We had one last day out this week and it finalised our holiday plans. Yesterday, Star had an induction day at college, but now I’m just letting the kids do as they please before they go back to school in a few days. I guess that means loads of computer time.
This is the first time in 11 years that I’ve not had a child in primary school. It feels kind of sad leaving it behind. Fingers crossed that if they keep Covid under control we can get back to more school events and trips. So much has been cancelled over the last year and a half. Star might even be starting a work placement, she’s already decided that she wants to work at the Wildlife Conservation Centre.
So, Summer may be over but for the kid’s it’s a whole new beginning. Star at college, The Little Man starting Secondary School and Boo starting her GCSE years.
And for me, well, it’s back to hospital in a couple of weeks and then I will be working on a couple more projects which I’m keeping under wrap for now. I’m also looking forward to lots more blogging.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
We are a little sad that the summer is over too. Our three will be off to uni and we will have the echoey house to ourselves.
Wishing your three a good year in their school and college life.
And apart from hospital visits, it sounds like you have some good plans under wrap! Good luck with it.
I think summer has well and truly gone but you are right, it is a time for new beginnings!
Snap! My word is over too. The holidays are over and it feels like summer is too although we are forecast some warmer weather next week.
I still say the kids are going back to school forgetting my eldest is starting her 3rd year at college. lol It is weird to say.
It sounds like you had a great summer. I am doing the same, letting the kids just do what they want for the next few days. Have a great weekend and I hope the return to school and start of college goes well. x

I always feel sad when summer comes to an end. Lots of new beginnings in your house. It must feel strange that your days of having a primary-school child are over. I hope that Little Man settles in well at secondary school and Star at college and that all goes well for Boo this year with starting GCSEs. #WotW
It was a weird summer, wasn’t it? I can’t even remember how many sunny days we had. We never even got the chance to get the paddling pool out this year. It sounds like lots of change in your house. I hope it is all going well? I think we are all keeping our fingers crossed for some normality and not having things cancelled #WotW
