Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Falling’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – FALLING
This week I have been feeling low and my mood has been falling but it’s also a word that sums up a lot of things for us.
Yesterday morning I suffered a nasty fall after getting out of bed. I’d got up, put on my cardigan and reached for my walker. But then my left side just let me down and I toppled forward, over the walker and into the wardrobe…well, it would have been the wardrobe but Graham had left a ladder propped up against so I banged my face on the step of the ladder. Luckily my eldest son was awake and came to my rescue and got me back on the bed. I didn’t feel anything, my whole left side was numb (not unusual for me.) But as the day wore on, the numbness wore off and I was very sore from the fall.
Last weeks school meeting went well and The Little Man has been a little happier at school. But Boo has started falling behind again. She’s struggling with the work and struggling with going into school. She seems to be tired all the time and as soon as she gets home from school she’s into her pj’s. We often have to wake her for dinner or her shower. She’s constantly falling asleep. She’s been like this since having Covid, where her only symptom was extreme fatigue. I do hope she improves soon.
And then there is the fall in my mood. I have tried not to project it on other’s but my family have received a lot of my grumpiness. I don’t know whether it’s because of my treatment last week bringing me down. Or the weight of everyone’s issues on my shoulder. I do often feel like I’m falling.
Then there is the falling of buildings in Ukraine, the news is very depressing at the moment. I do have a story to share though. I’m in a group of like minded people on Facebook and one of our members was in Kharkiv. At first she wanted to stay home but she eventually fled with her family and is now across the border, safe but homeless. She told us a story of an old lady who saw a drone outside her window and threw a jar of pickles at it making it fall from the sky. It shows the true spirit of the Ukraine people.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week?
I am so sorry. It sounds like a rotten week for you. It sounds like you had a nasty fall, I am glad your son was there to help you. Sending love and hugs. I hope you feel less sore soon.
I am glad your Little Man is happier at school but poor Boo. I hope she feels better soon too.
The Ukraine people are amazing and I feel so sad for them losing everything. Good on that old lady and her jar of pickles. x
I’m so sorry that you had a nasty fall Anne. Hope that the soreness eases off soon and that next week will be a better one for you all. Poor Boo still struggling with fatigue after having Covid. I hope that improves soon for her as well. The news is awful at the moment but it’s good to hear of people with such spirit as that lady had throwing the pickles. #WotW
