Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Overwhelmed’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Overwhelmed
Sometimes you get those weeks when everything just seems too much. I had to write a list the other day of things I needed to sort, not just little niggly things but big things that need hours on the phone. And I just feel overwhelmed by it all.
This is how I feel, I just want to hide away and let someone else deal with it. But, I have to work through my list slowly and surely and I will get through it all.
I have already ticked off a few things. I’ve put a request in for our patio doors to be fixed (Again.) For some reason they keep dropping and they have these weird hinges that need special tools to adjust them. It’s a five minute job, but not one we can do. Then I’ll be able to close the door again, at the moment only Graham can do it.
I’ve also sorted out the repair of Graham’s phone. The contract is in my name so I have to sort it. I hate the call centre for Virgin, you can hear all the other operators talking in the background and I find it really hard to focus on the person speaking to me. I have always suffered from ‘cocktail party effect’ where it is difficult to focus on a conversation in a noisy environment, and Virgin media are definitely the worse place I have to deal with on the phone. But, I did it and the phone is going back again, It’s 3 months old and this is the second time I’ve had to send it back because it just doesn’t work.
Today, I’m going to try and call Motability about my new car. They keep sending me messages asking me to apply for a new car which is due in August, but my disability allowance runs out in February next year so they won’t accept my application. It’s only a phone call but I keep putting it off.
Then there is the opticians and the dentist that needs sorting. I have to arrange all the families appointments.
There are a few more personal things that need sorting too, but I am slowly getting through this list and trying not to be so overwhelmed.
The biggest thing was to sort out The Little Man’s school and I did that yesterday, fingers tightly crossed it goes well for him and we haven’t made a big mistake in sending him back.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
That’s the way to do it. Make a list, and make your way through it. I know what you mean by those call centres like Virgin Media. I also hate it. Part of me wants to hear the other conversations but then it means I can’t hear my own, lol.
Ugh! No wonder you felt overwhelmed, you have had a lot to deal with. Good luck with getting everything done and good on you for making a start on things. I hate ringing call centres, O2 are the same, it is hard to focus on the conversation. It is hard work having to arrange all of the families appointments.
I hope your boy has had a good day at school today. x
Sometimes you can deal with it all and sometimes you can’t. I hope you manage to get it all sorted. One thing at a time is my motto.
Lots of things to sort out and hope that you’ve managed to work your way through the list and get it all sorted. Sometimes you just have to chip away at things. Hope that this week has been less overwhelming. #WotW
I totally get feeling overwhelmed. It all feels like it happens at once. I have Ethan’s DLA form looking at me and that is enough to put me on edge. My mum has the same issues with her doors. They have to have the people come round to fix it. That phone sounds like a real pain, something that shouldn’t be happening when it isn’t that old! #WotW
