Last Friday we went to Resorts World in Birmingham to eat at Karaage restaurant for my daughter’s birthday treat. It was a really lovely place to visit and I’m sure we will be going back again sometime. Outside the huge shopping centre was a gorgeous lake with steel lilies. I took this picture at dusk and it looked beautiful.
The Karaage restuarant was pretty amazing too. We make karaage at home and I even decided to pop down my own recipe for it here. It was lovely to have it in a restaurant though. The service was a little unusual as you don’t order starters and main meals, just whatever you fancy and it arrives in whatever order it is made. I had a chicken bao bun and a bowl of karaage, with mochi for desert.
Here’s my Karaage, which came with spring onions, a little salad and a bowl of Japanese Mayonnaise.
Graham had Chicken Katsu Curry which was also amazing.
We had some deserts too, myself and my son and daughter all had mochi. I love mochi, but hadn’t realised it was ice cream mochi and put a whole one in my mouth causing brain freeze…serves me right for being greedy! The other two I ate more slowly. I had three flavours, mango, strawberry and coconut. I liked the coconut one best.
Graham couldn’t resist the Oreo cheesecake they had on display.
After eating we went to the bowling alley. It was too long to wait for a bowling aisle so we spent some time in the arcade which was fun.
I think my daughter has had a great birthday this year, she loved all her presents, had 3 birthday cakes and an evening out.
It sounds like you had a lovely evening. Fantastic photos. The food looks amazing! I am glad your daughter had a great birthday! x
I have only just discovered what Karaage is after reading your post.
The Karaage restaurant sounds fab and that katsu curry is right up my street, it looks amazing.
I did have a giggle at the brain freeze, you’re not alone, this would be me too! Haha.
Glad your daughter had a lovely birthday. xx
Karaage looks delicious (I had to look up what but was). It’s definitely a recipe that I’d like to try :o)

That view is stunning! You never would guess it was in Birmingham.
The food looks delicious, just the sort of food I like. Sorry to hear about the brain freeze though.
Such a lovely lake for an urban area and a great shot too. Thanks for linking up and for sharing with #MySundaySnapshot.
They look wonderful. Katsu curry is my favourite. Happy Birthday to your daughter!
