Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘seventeen’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Seventeen
My Star had her birthday this week and she is now seventeen. She thought it was quite amusing to see the word seventeen on one of her birthday cards, do young people not get that numbers can be written as words?
She nearly didn’t make it to her seventeenth birthday. We had to rush her to hospital early Saturday morning. We took her just in time because it could have become life threatening if we’d left her any longer. I won’t go into all the details but they are blaming her Elher’s Danlos Syndrome which she has been diagnosed with for about nine years. She had organ failure, mainly her kidneys, bladder and bowel. It wasn’t a pleasant experience and one I hope we don’t have to repeat. She will be getting lots of follow up appointments.
All the time she was in hospital she was desperate to be home for her birthday. And we made it! She was discharged the day before and we had her boyfriend and Boo’s friend around for an afternoon of party food and computer games. Then in the evening it was pizza take out, birthday cake and more games with her older siblings. She had some lovely presents, mostly Pokemon toys, and had a lovely day. I’m so glad we got there. It wasn’t the day we planned but she can make up for that when she’s well enough.
Next it’s back to college, she’s trying a different one to redo her GCSEs and hopefully find out what she really wants to do in the future.
So much for my peace that I was craving last week. I can’t believe it’s Friday again, I feel like my feet haven’t touched the ground. I’m not going to wish for a peaceful weekend, just in case!
Now it’s your turn, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
Oh what a scare that must have been! I am glad she’ll be ok though and that she had a lovely birthday. Hope you get some rest soon too!
Happy belated birthday to Star. It sounds like she had a good day. What a worry with her health. I am so glad she’s on the mend now and she has some follow up appointments. Good luck to her in college. x
Happy 17th birthday to Star. I’m glad she managed to make it home for her birthday and had a lovely day, but what a worrying week for you all. Thank goodness that you got her to hospital in time and hope that she is feeling much, much better now. Big hugs to you all xx #WotW
Poor Star, I hope she’s feeling better. Glad she could get home for her birthday and that she had a nice day.
