A long time ago, I was a young girl, newly married and in my first ever home of my own. I longed for a baby and my first child was born exactly a month after Christmas, so he gets the first birthday of the year. He likes to choose a different restaurant each year to celebrate and this year he was keen to go to Resorts World. We went there last year to Karaage for my daughter’s birthday. This time we chose Zizzi, an Italian restaurant.
We left the young ones at home. They didn’t mind, it’s nice for the adults to have an evening out sometime. They are young enough to look after themselves. Star stayed in her room as she wasn’t feeling so good, but she likes to chat with her friends online. Boo was brilliant. She spent some time practicing the guitar, played Minecraft with the Little Man and then had a shower.
The evening began well. We arrived in plenty of time for our booking and everyone had a little mooch around, apart from me. But I did find the escalators pretty fascinating.
The restaurant was really nice and we were given a nice large table with plenty of room for my wheelchair. I hate it when I have to squeeze in somewhere. We were served quickly and the food was lovely. I started off with Chicken Milanese which was really tasty, although the carrots could have been a little softer. It was really filling though. Graham had the six layer lasagne, Eldest Daughter had a Calzone and No1 Son had a Chicken Pasta dish.
Three of us had the Zillionaire’s Fudge Cake which was delicious, but so much I couldn’t finish mine. No1 son went different and had a chocolate melt which looked really delicious and I wish I’d chosen this instead.
The First Birthday of the Year!
As my son gets older I’m reminded that I’m getting older too! He’s already over a decade older than I was when I gave birth to him. My first experience was not the best, we ran into trouble and I had to have an emergency C Section under general anaesthetic. We both nearly didn’t make it. I had to spend my first ten days of his life in hospital. He was my precious first born though. We’ve had many birthday celebrations over the years but he doesn’t like parties or big family gatherings.
After the meal we went to the bowling alley where they had a couple of games. I used to love bowling so much when I was younger, we used to go every week. It was nice to watch them have fun. I’m only allowed to share a photo of Graham though.
I hope my son enjoyed his birthday, I always think it’s both a blessing and a curse having the first birthday of the year. (And it’s a pain on my purse being so soon after Christmas!) Next month it’s Graham’s birthday, but first I have a day with friends to celebrate their birthday’s. We are going to a ballet and I can’t wait to tell you all about that. For now, I think I need to rest.
Happy Birthday No1 Son!
Sounds like you had a great night, shame there are no photos though 🙄
You’ll have to visit them in the flesh, they don’t like photos!
Happy birthday to your eldest! It sounds like a lovely evening out and the food looks so good. x
The food was lovely, and I think they had fun. We had to leave the birthday cake for the next day!
Happy birthday to your son. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time and the food looks delicious. It’s lovely to see our kids grow up but you’re right. It means that we get older too!
Thank you, it was a lovely birthday and the food was great.
Happy Birthday too your eldest.
Those escalators look amazing! Like being in a spaceship 🙂
The dessert looks yummy too!
