Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Strike’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. And please only add one post to the link up each week, multiple posts will be deleted. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Strike
As I’ve already told you, the Little Man has gone back to school after a year off. He started back part time last week and it didn’t go so well. This week he had one bad day, one good day and three days off thanks to the teacher’s being on strike! One of the days was a planned Inset day, but the other two were strike days.
I have felt a lot more relaxed having him at home. We had an e-mail saying that he should continue his work at home, but he doesn’t know what he’s supposed to be doing. I’m not too worried, school is almost over anyway and it’s not like he’s going to catch up this year right now. Hopefully, when he goes back in September it will be a real fresh start and I’m pretty confident he’ll catch up in no time.
Next week he’s back full time so we’ll see how that goes.
I think the sun has also been on strike this week! My washing is piling up as I don’t want to be using my tumble dryer. I do have clothes airers, included a heated one. But I love the luxury of drying loads of washing outside. I can even do it myself as I have a trolley to hold on to and a rotating line so I don’t have to walk down the garden. It gives me great satisfaction doing something so ordinary.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week!
Ugh! I had heard there were strikes again this week but I didn’t realise there were 2 days. Ugh. I wouldn’t worry about him doing much work at the moment, there must only be a couple of weeks left at the most. I hope he gets his fresh start in September.
We haven’t had much sun here either although today is gorgeous!
I’d heard there were more strikes but my kids school has stayed open. There is only two weeks of term left so I wouldn’t worry either. September is a new start for him.
How annoying to have a teacher strike just when your Little Man is settling in. I hope he has a better week and the days go by fast so that he can finish off and start fresh again in September. I have washing in the machine that I am going to hang up in a minute. Even though it’s winter, we have had really sunny days. I hope you get some sunny days soon.
Frustrating for the strike days to happen just as Little Man is settling back at school but nice that you were more relaxed with him home. Sophie had a couple of days off with strikes too. It is nice when you can dry clothes outside. I can imagine that ordinary tasks like that can be quite satisfying when you’re able to do them yourself x #WotW
