My Sunday Photo – Stones

When we were on holiday we took a trip to St Ives. When we got there the tide was out and there was lots of stones followed by an expanse of sandy beaches. The weather wasn’t it best. So we ended up going for lunch first.

After lunch the sand was almost gone as the tide had come in right up to the stones. It didn’t stop the kids going down though. They spent some time at the water side throwing pebbles in for a little dog that was playing. They did ask the owner first if it was okay.

Then they came back and decided to join in with the activity that everyone seemed to be doing…bulding stone sculptures. They spent over an hour building them, it was a lovely relaxing way to pass the time balancing one stone on top of the other.

St Ives

St Ives is such a lovely place, I could share a thousand photos, but I know you don’t have all day. There was a ramp down to the beach but no way I could have got my wheelchair over these rocks. Had the weather been sunnier we may have ventured further up the beach to the ramp which led down onto the sand rather than the rocks. But the kid’s (And Graham) really enjoyed making these rock sculptures and at least they didn’t get completely coverd in sand. I didnt mind waiting on the promenade watching. I wasn’t the only one.

We didn’t get to go around the shops either because being an older village the roads and pavements where very uneven and all the shop entrances had steps. I know you can ask for ramps in most places, but we were not in the right mood for shop browsing anyway.

I wish we had walked around to the lighthouse, maybe we should have gone back another time. There is just too much too fit in in Cornwall. I hope to go back again one day.

Tides

Here is a little collage I made of the photos of when we arrived and afterwards. You can see the lighthouse accross the sandy beach in the first. In the secon and third you can see how far the tide has come in. There were many boats on the sand which were floating on the sea later.
