Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘pool’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Pool
So last week it rained nearly all week, and this week we have had a heatwave. To be honest, I was really surprised that I could get a paddling pool from Argos. I really thought that with everyone being stuck in their garden then the pools would be sold out! This one is 8ft long, long enough for an adult to lie flat in, so perfect for my not so little kids.
The girls swimming costumes are packed away in a suitcase on top of my wardrobe and I couldn’t get it down. So they just put on some shorts and a t-shirts to go and sit in the pool. The Little Man’s swim shorts were readily available as he’d been swimming with his school just before lockdown.
I didn’t think they would be that interested, but they were outside nearly all day!
By late afternoon their older siblings had joined them in the garden. No1 Son had a paddle, and Eldest Daughter was a bit cruel in pushing Boo into the pool after she’d just got changed..oh dear! 🙂
I’d also bought a ball and Boo and ED played a game of passing the ball to each other combined with a word game. They had a lot of fun, and the other’s joined in too. Star sat on a deckchair with her feet in the pool until 8 pm. It’s amazing what a pool can do. It brought my family together, kept the young ones cool all day and provided them with non digital entertainment. We even had a power cut during the day which went unnoticed. The television is still playing up a little, but at least I got to watch the final of The Sewing Bee last night.
I know this is an account of only one day, but honestly, it was so lovely it has really made my week. The pool is ready for some more fun later. I may even be able to find the girl’s swimsuits.
p.s. It’s week 26! half way through the year already. Hold on everyone, we’ll soon be seeing the back of 2020. There have not been many years I’ve wanted to see the end of, but 2020 has been the pits so far hasn’t it?
Now, it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
The pool sounds bliss Anne! I had the worst nights sleep last night and really struggled with the heat yesterday. A pool to put my feet in would have been wonderful. Definitely putting one on the shopping list for the next heat wave we have. 🙂 Hope you get a lot more use of it in the coming weeks! #wotw
We’ve had our pool out this week too! The twins love it. They’re a godsend in this hot weather! #wotw
Amazing how much fun such a simple thing can provide. I could sure use one of thise. Being quite tall, I have never sound normal baths as agreeable as I might if I didn’t have to bend my knees! #WotW
We noticed our paddling pool had a split in a couple of months ago and the girls weren’t bothered about getting a new one until this week. Our Argos had sold out of all the affordable one’s so they’ve done without.
It sounds like your lot have had a lovely time together. x

Ooh a pool would have been lovely this week! if only to cool my feet in 😀 You were lucky to get one, and I’m glad you all had such fun with it 😀
That looks like a fab pool and glad all your kids enjoyed it and it helped bring everyone together. We’ve had the paddling pool out a bit but Thomas gets cold really quickly so it tends to be used for brief periods. Hope you’re having a good weekend. Thanks for hosting #WotW
It sounds like the pool was well worth it! I would have expected Argos to have sold out of pools too. We normally have ours out but we’ve only just laid new turf down, so we’ve got to wait a few weeks for it to take. We got the hose out and had a water fight on the front though. x
Hey Anne, you know what? surprisingly my word of this week is pool too. Not this week, it’s been pool since the pandemic started, if the concept of the whole linky or word of the week accept it. ha ha.
Since people are already started getting out, I still am too afraid of this COVID-19 and since my work allow me to work from home, its hot summer and I have nice little pool on my backyard, why going out?
Pooling and swimming is the best time spent for me And I really love to enjoy my time while swimming and play with water. Thank you for sharing your thought. Really love this article.
Great! 🙂 thanks for sharing.
I am a new follower of yours ;). #WotW (WORD OF THE WEEK)
