This week I finished a blanket that I have been working on for many weeks and I am so proud of it. It’s called Baby Blooms and it’s a baby blanket suitable for a cot. I just fell in love with the pattern and wanted to give it a go.
Each hexagon was made individually and they are all different. Then I had to crochet them all together using a stitch that made them stand out. You can turn the blanket over for a completely flat look if you wish. Then the edging was done using a pattern which complimented the flowers in the hexagons.
I had some trouble and the two long edges are a not as they are supposed to look. But after getting it all completely wrong and having to start again, I decided to adapt it so I could work it out myself. I was happy with the finished result.
I always feel a little embarrassed when showing off my work, but this blanket took me ages to make and it turned out just as I wanted it to, so I feel okay with myself feeling a little proud of it. It’s also made in lovely soft wool and feels great. I’m not keeping it though, I’ve already put my Baby Blooms blanket for sale in my Etsy Shop.
A Week of Self Isolation
After a peaceful week last week it ended on the news that Boo has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid. Now, she is in self isolation for at least 10 days, longer if she tests positive, but so far so good. We were hoping to go out and enjoy some sunshine this weekend but it looks like we’ll be in the garden instead. This is the first time it has happened though and I’m glad the adults are vaccinated. (Apart from eldest son who is keeping well away.)
Next week is going to be weird. Star will have to go into school while Boo learns at home. And the Little Man has to go back to the hospital so I guess we’ll have to test him first. Fingers tightly crossed that all the tests remain negative.
The adults in the house have also been invited to take part in the blood tests for the ONS to see if we have any traces of Covid either from catching it or the vaccination. The kids will continue with the Covid testing for study. We are happy to do our part for research.
I hope everyone else is having a good weekend and that the sun is shining for you. Everything seems so much sweeter with a little sunshine.
That is gorgoeus. The colours are so pretty. Well done, don’t be embarrassed about showing off your work, you should be proud of yourself.
Fingers crossed Boo shows no symptoms and all the tests are negative. x

That is such a beautiful blanket! You should be proud to show it off. Hope everyone remains healthy in your home. #MMBC
That is such a gorgeous baby blanket. I love the colours and the design of it. Absolutely beautiful – you should be proud of it. Sorry to hear that Boo is having to isolate – hope you manage to all stay Covid-free. #MMBC
The blanket is absolutely stunning. I love the colours and the patterns.
I hope Boo (and the rest of you) managed to stay Covid free. We do monthly testing for the ONS and I would love to do a blood test, but have never been asked! I’m sure I had Covid in April 2020 (although of course there was no testing then) and suspect the rest of the family had it even more mildly than me. It would be interesting to see if we had any antibodies.

Sarah, we were asked right at the end of our year of monthly trials, so they may ask you too.
I’m sorry that you are in isolation, here’s hoping that everyone stays happy and healthy. That is amazing crotchet – you are so so talented! Thanks for linking up and for sharing your snaps with #MySundaySnapshot.
