Welcome to my latest issue of What I’ve Been Watching Lately, Last time I was enjoying The Lincoln Lawyer, Who is Erin Carter, Glitch and Super Intelligence. Netflix was my best friend.
Once again Netflix features heavily. I do have a trial of Disney Plus but I’ve yet to watch anything. I may give Hocus Pocus 2 a view seeing as it’s that time of year.
Locke and Key
I started watching Locke and Key a while ago but didn’t really think it was my thing as it is Young Adult based. However, I’ve developed a love of a lot of YA fiction and programs lately so I gave it another go and whizzed through the first series.
It’s about a family that moves into an ancestral home after the death of the father. They start to find keys with magical properties and soon end up in a lot of trouble.
I’ve started on the second series and it’s does seem a little more ‘grown up’ I’m really interested to see where this goes.
Bodies
Bodies had a lot of hype so I decided to give it a whirl when it dropped on Netflix. It’s a time travel series and I really enjoyed it.
I really don’t want to give too much away but a dead body is found by police men in three different decades, and it appears to be the same body. Each of the police officers have their own story line which run simultaneously which is quite unique. Then as it progresses we have another version of the body found by a police officer in the future, but the police officer then discovers that the body is still a living person!
It involves a nuclear explosion in 2023 which changes the world forever, and it’s caused by a young boy who is very confused and rejected. The policewoman of that time tries to help him but fails.
Then begins the story of time travel and we learn what actually happened to the man who became the dead body found in different decades, and who the boy is who caused the explosion and why. It’s a little confusing but not too difficult to follow. I’d definitely watch it again.
People are divided about the ending but I thought it was really good and a refreshing change from usual storylines like this. There are few things to watch out for in the last part of the last episode which are signs there may be another series…or just that what happened changed the future too.
Great British Bake Off
I’ve been watching the Great British Bake off for years and it’s nice to see the addition of Alison Hammond, fellow Brummie who I met in a lift once and mistook her for an old school friend. That was before she was on the tv a lot and I’d only seen her in Big Brother and doing the competitions on This Morning.
I used to love to bake along each week and join in with Bake with Bake Off Blogs every week. I even won a prize once for my Mary Berry Mokatines. That’s 3 hours of my life I’ll never get back.
This year the competition has it’s usual entrants, those that are funny and quirky and those with exceptional talent. Although I do wonder sometimes how they won their place in the tent when they don’t know simple basic techniques. At the moment I think Dan is my winner, but that might change as the challenges get harder.
Big Brother UK
I’ve not been watching this regularly but I saw the opening show and a few shows that have given me an idea of what’s going on. I used to love Big Brother so much when it first started all those years ago and never missed and episode. In the first series you were able to access some cameras in the house through your computer to watch the housemates live!
It’s strange how your opinions of the people in there change as time goes on. I never thought that I’d like Matty and Jordan but they have grown on me. I don’t know who will win but it’s looking like Yinrun is a big favourite.
Ru Pauls Drag Race UK
I never watched the first Drag Race UK, but I’ve watched all the others and I think they are great fun. I love the tasks they have to do and watching them get their make up on and chatting in the Werk Room. Then seeing the results on the runway. I love the mini tasks they are given like forming girl bands, and the Snatch Game which like a version of Blankety Blank. You can generally tell who Ru Paul likes from the start and I’m often disappointed in the result. This year there doesn’t seem to be a stand out favourite. I think I’m rooting for Cara Melle, but I’ve not made up my mind just yet.
I think that rounds it up for now. I know my older kids have watched the Five night at Freddy’s film but I’m not really into horror. Although I hear it’s a bit ridiculous. It can’t be any more ridiculous than Willy’s Wonderland which is obviously based on FNAF but stars a completely silent Nicholas Cage. (It’s gory but hilarious and I’ve seen it several times!)
What have you been watching lately? I’d love to hear.
I watched a few episodes of Locke & Key and couldn’t get into it, I might give it another go. Bodies is on my list to watch, I saw someone talking about it on morning TV and it looks interesting.
I love Bake off and I’ve just remembered that I have last weeks episode to watch. I’ve been recording it as Corrie has been on at the same time because of the Rugby for the past few weeks.
I am hooked on Big Brother and my eldest is too for the first time. I love Jordan, he’s apparently from the town where I live. I don’t think he’s lived here for a long time though going by his accent. lol
My girls are going to see FNAF at the weekend, it’s totally not my thing. x
It’s my second attempt at Locke & Key as I didn’t like it at first. It really is good though, lots of action and scary bits, where I thought it was just teen drama at first. It kind of ‘grows up’ as it progresses.
I’ve heard a lot about Bodies, it’s on our watch list so I’m looking forward to that.
I do love Bake off! It’s much better with Alison and Noel presenting.
We’ve watched loads over the past few weeks but we are currently binge-watching Yellowstone with Kevin Costner. I didn’t think it would be my thing but it’s brilliant! x
I’ve watched Bodies twice now! Not something I’d normally do but I watched it alone and then with someone else, thankfully, I am extremely good on not giving anything away but it’s good to talk about a program.
Me and my husband are currently watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix. I’ve also been dog sitting for my sister and she as sky, so we have just watched The Last Of Us, which was really good! #MMBC
This reminded me of a list I made a few weeks ago, kept meaning to watch a couple of these! #MMBC
My friend was telling me about Bodies but I’m not sure if I’d like it. I’m right into watching Christmas movies at the moment. I started watching The Great British Bake Off last night but I fell asleep. It’s a soothing kind of show!
