As promised here are the photos from our trip to the German Christmas Market on Wednesday. I’ve not been for years and it was so nice to go again. It was cold but dry and we had a good walk around. It seemed a little smaller than usual, but there was also some stalls in the grounds of the Cathedral or Pigeon Park as it’s known.
My Favourite photo of the day was the one of my Little Man and Boo on the Carousel.
I used to love riding the carousel, even as an adult. I can remember sitting in one of these carriages with my children when they were diddy.
The market had lots of stalls, a lot of them sold food and we enjoyed our German Sausages. Some of the stalls sold crafted goods and jewellery and I was particularly attracted to this stall of lights.
The Little Man was most interested in the Newton Light, which is the big C, the balls in the middle are magnets which turn it on and off.
All of the stalls had Christmas decorations and were lit up when it got darker.
You don’t always get the best photos when you are in a wheelchair. I got someone else to take the next photo of the wonderful Helter Skelter.
I’d have loved a ride, but the kids were both dis-interested.
There was so much else to see and as it got darker it really started to look different. The Little Man was fascinated when a man went around lighting up the gas lights.
I didn’t get to go to see the decorations in the Bull Ring or the Christmas tree in St Martins. I don’t think I’ll be going back into town before Christmas. It did make me feel a little bit more like Christmas is on the way though.
I love the smells and the atmosphere of Christmas markets – they really come to life at night when all the lights come on 🙂

The Christmas market looks magical and I enjoyed the post so much. Since I am packing to move, I am not really doing much for Christmas except vicariously. #MMBC
What a wonderful way to spend the day with family.
Aww! It looks like you all had a fab time at the Christmas market! Your little man looks very happy on the carousel and I love those lights too. x
It looks lovely! I’m glad you got to get out and spend some time there.
No doubt my son has had a good wander around. My daughter has a school trip there next week.
I love Helta Skeltas… so much fun, this looks like such a great Christmas fayre. Thanks for sharing and for linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
