Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Needing Help’ and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest boarddevoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Needing Help
This week has been all about needing help. I’ve been in hospital every day getting help, the Little Man has had help each day from his teacher to learn at home, and we have needed help with technology products which have failed us.

Hospital
I’ll start at the top. I’ve been having my IVIG treatments which give me help to boost my immune system. I usually get through the week okay, with the usual headaches and tiredness and just writing it off as a rough week. However, this week I was needing more help than usual when I had a spasm during my treatment. Thankfully one of the nurses knew exactly what to do and she also taught another nurse there. It was a great help and I was soon feeling better. I don’t go out much so I don’t really have spasms other than at home, but the last time I had one in the hospital the doctor in A&E had no idea what to do. That’s one of the problems with having a rare condition. I’m lucky that the nurse on my day ward has dealt with others with my condition and knew what to do, particularly as I lose my voice too so I’m no help!
Home School
As soon as it was announced that school were going to be closed I was prepared for the kid’s having to be taught by myself. However, The Little Man’s teacher set up a classroom through Teams and, although he has been needing very little help, I’m so glad that she has been there for him when I have been unable to be. He has been learning every day along with his peers and he’s not needed me at all! Next week, the girls will be starting their lessons. As a family with plenty of technology I thought we were well prepared, but that’s not so. We need to have three laptops working at the same time so we are short. The tablets do not work well enough. We were needing help and the school came to the rescue with a further laptop loan. Of course, this means that I won’t be online much as I’ll have to give my laptop to one of the children for lessons. I just hope the internet holds out!
Needing Help With Technology
My eldest daughters phone stopped charging just before Christmas and as it was insured I put in a claim for repair, but we heard nothing back. I found out today that we can’t claim on the insurance because the phone is still under warranty. So now I’m waiting for the phone to be collected for repair. It’s astonishing when such an expensive piece of technology fails within the first year of use.
To top that, my other daughter’s tablet has an issue with the headphone socket. Again the tablet is less than a year old and still under warranty but we can get it fixed quicker for a small fee. We are unsure what to do yet but we are certainly needing some help.
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week? I hope you have all the help you need.
