My Word of the Week
This week my word is Survived.

First, we are all alive and almost completely well so we survived last weeks illness, yay! Thanks for all the kind thoughts and get well wishes.
On Monday the girls went back to school after a whole week off sick. It’s not very often they have a whole week off but this bug was a serious one.
Tuesday was Enrichment Day at school and this means the whole school routine is interrupted for a day of activities based on a theme.
Star had been told that her year were doing ‘the Hunger Games’ and Boo’s year were going on a trip to Conkers. The theme for enrichment day was Survival!
They didn’t really enjoy their days and both game home in a grumpy mood. (I know Star had spent all day in the SEND classrooms.) I think Boo didn’t enjoy her trip because she was still not feeling 100% well.
They both survived though, and school continued all week.
The Little Man survived an eye test. Ok, I know that’s not much of a task but he’s been having problems for a while now and wouldn’t tell us why. The teacher suggested that the reason he wasn’t completing all the work at school may have something to do with his eyesight. So we got him tested and he now has glasses.
His work at school hasn’t improved though. He’s such a naughty boy, not listening or doing as he is told. He complains of being bored all the time and won’t even try to get on with the other children. We will get to the bottom of why he is behaving this way, but in the meantime he has a little break. He has survived another term at school and now has two weeks for half term instead of one. The reason for this is because they are moving to a brand new school building.
Now it’s your turn, what have you been up to this week?

It sounds like you’ve all survived the week in different ways ! Hopefully the break from school for half term will do everyone the world of good, the weather looks like it’s going to get better and that always improves the mood I find. I hope you can get to the bottom of what’s troubling your little man, it can be tough when they don’t enjoy school. Have a nice weekend and an illness free half term x #wotw
Well, that is an interesting theme. Having read the Hunger Games, I can imagine that it would either be a huge success or the complete opposite. I’m glad everyone survived. Hope Boo is feeling better. Fingers crossed that the glasses work their magic for Little Man. The break over half term may be just what he needs. The last week before they break up is always tiring, no matter how long the term is. Hope you enjoy your week.
Glad you are all feeling better and have got through the challenges of the week. Enrichment day sounds like a fun idea but a shame that the girls didn’t enjoy it. Hope the half-term break helps Little Man and that you all have a good half term. #WotW
Glad to hear you made it through the week. “Survived” is a good word for the week for you, especially after last week!
So glad you all survived!
To have a week off school goes to show how ill the girls were. The poor things.
I really don’t like the sound of “The Hunger Games” day at school. Star did right staying in the SEND classroom.
Oh dear. It sounds like you are having a rough time with your little man. I hope the break and the new school building brings a new attitude.
Wow, certainly a week that needed everyone’s survival skills! hope you have a lovely half term
I’m glad that you are on the mend and the theme day at school sounds fun. I hope the break helps your son X #wotw
Hi Anne, the enrichment day sounds different. I have this image in my head of children enacting the Hunger Games, which is a little disturbing. I hope you get to the bottom of why Little Man isn’t settling at school. Maybe he finds it too easy?
xx
I felt so weird sending my girl off into the Hunger Games, thankfully she found the perfect place to hide. I really don’t understand the Little Man, with all my other kids they’ve been naughty at home and good at school, but he’s the opposite…although saying that, my eldest was naughty at school and at home..I guess it’s a boy thing??
Oh no you have been ill too, everyone seems to be ill! So glad you are all surviving as I know how rough I have been, it totally knocked me out. Oh no so sorry the girls didn’t enjoy their day they must have been so disappointed? Let hope you all have a lovely restful week x
Sorry you’ve been poorly too x The girl’s were not too disappointed, just glad to have survived the day. Other kids might love these ‘exciting’ days but I think mine would prefer to stay home. x
