Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week, a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase but please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week.
There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK.
This week has passed by so fast that I even forgot it was Friday. So apologies if you arrived here too early for my #WOTW to published. You may have noticed my earlier, quickly scribbled post as I tried to catch up before the school run.
Last weekend was my brother’s birthday which went really well with a lovely family meal in the pub. Unfortunately, the rest of the weekend was a wash out (in more ways that one with all that rain.) It’s strange but when you are a teenager and you go out on a Saturday night and get drunk, then it seems quite reasonable to spend Sunday in bed recovering. Sadly, I’m not a teenager, I didn’t get drunk (the meal was in the afternoon.) And I didn’t want to spend the rest of the weekend recovering.
On Monday we went to look at new cars. We’d hoped to get a 7 seater, but the one we wanted (or could afford) was the Ford CMax and they are being discontinued. The only other two we could afford were either like a huge van or hybrid. Graham wasn’t so keen on having a hybrid and he’s the main driver, and we didn’t want a huge van type car which would guzzle the petrol. We only need the extra seats a few times a year so it just didn’t seem an economical choice. So we ended up sticking with 5 seats and have ordered a Ford Kuga, which we should receive in September. The last three years since we had the Skoda have gone so fast.
We also had two different lots of shopping delivered on Monday. I couldn’t get everything I needed from one shop, so I had to split between two supermarkets. It was a pain, but I didn’t want to have to go to the shops so it seemed faster to make two separate online orders.
On Tuesday it was Boo’s school Band Musicianship performance. I love that the school takes the Band Musicianship so seriously and it’s amazing to see the children perform. This years ‘gig’ was a lot faster than last years though. I’m sure we were there well past the end of school, but this year it was all over with half hour to spare.
We also had a new mattress delivered. It’s better than the last mattress which was over eight years old so needed replacing. But, I was kind of hoping for a miracle where I’d wake up in the morning in less pain. Sadly that hasn’t happened and I’m not getting out of bed any faster.
Wednesday, Graham managed to do some more decorating in the living room. It’s coming along, but certainly not as fast as I would like it to be. We also had some new bars fitted in the bathroom to make life easier for me.
Thursday went past so fast. Graham did a lot more work in the living room. We’ll get it done one day I’m sure. I did some pottering around, probably too much, and I wore myself out. I ended up having an early night and it was 2 am when I woke and remembered I’d not written this post! I tried to get it up as fast as possible this morning.

Now it’s over to you; What have you been up to this week?
love how so many of this weeks projects for you fits the one word. I have to agree life does go very fast and the weekends come round far to quick.
Hope the wait for the living room to be finished is worth it.
My daughter ended up with a 9 seater mini bus as she could not find a 7 seater she liked or could afford and they need 7 seats all the time so extra seats are handy for friends kids or cousins.
I’m hoping to be ordering my new carpet next week…I want my word of the week to be ‘finished’ the week after..I’m hoping anyway. We wouldn’t have room to park a mini bus at home. That’s why we were trying for one of the smaller 7 seaters.
Sorry about the car, but that is exciting about the new one. It is nice to hear about the band and glad the take it seriously. Hope you are loving the new matress xx
Some weeks do seem to go by very fast don’t they? I was late getting my post up this week too – just didn’t get a chance to finish it last night. It’s frustrating when you can’t get the car you want but the one you went for sounds good. We have a Touran which I love but only need the extra seats occasionally. Glad Boo’s Band Musicianship performance went well and hope the decorating gets finished soon! Thanks for hosting #WotW
You had a lot going on last week, Anne. Sorry the weekend was a washout after your brother’s party. Sometimes rainy weather makes me want to sleep too. getting a new car is always exciting! I hope you enjoy your new Ford. It’s funny, we can’t get that make of Ford here in the states.
I dare say FAST is the word of the year because this year is moving fast. In the blink of an eye, we’ll be saying Happy New Year.
You’ve been so busy I’m not surprised the week went by so fast! time does seem to be going all to quickly though, half way through the year already.. what happened!
I think this week has flown over too!
It sounds like a lovely celebration for your brother’s birthday and that cake was fab! I’m no teenager but I was on on Saturday night and got a little tipsy. I ended up having a nap on Sunday afternoon. lol
How exciting to be getting a new car. Such a shame you couldn’t get a 7 seater but like you said you only need the extra seats a few times a year.
Oh no. That’s not fair that the school Band Musicianship performance was over quickly.
That’s great that the decorating is getting done. Finally. hehehe
Some weeks go so fast, you wonder what happened. Always nice to have a family get together. I know I collapse the next day, I like the sound of your music performance. They get so much out of performing. I hope your new car works out. Car shopping is not one of my favourites. I’m sure your newly decorated living room will be worth the wait. We bought a new mattress a few months ago, and I can’t believe how much better I’m sleeping. Hope you have a good week and thank you for hosting. #wotw
I am the same regarding exhaustion it takes it our of you physically and mentally so I can totally emphasis. Sorry to hear about the car but hope it all goes OK with the new one. Oooo a new mattress sounds lovely X #wotw
Decorating takes forever doesn’t it? You will love your Kuga I have had two and they were fantastic I have the Echo Sport now which is a smaller version and I blooming love it. So sorry your mattress has not helped, but hope you are at least getting a better nights sleeps. And well done Boo for her performance its great school support music its so sad its not a big part of the curriculum anymore x
It sounds like you’ve had a busy week, I’m not surprised it’s passed so quickly for you. What a sham you couldn’t get the exact car you wanted, I hope the one you did choose is just as good for you x
