Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is Forward and you can read more about that below.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week.
There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week and I will add posts to Mix Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Forward
‘Forward’ was not going to be my choice of word this week. In Fact I’d already written a post with the word ‘Beginning’ as it is the beginning of a new year and a new decade. But after re-reading my post I felt it was more focused on looking back and decided to write something new, something looking forward instead.
Looking Forward
I live in the City of Birmingham in the UK. Our motto is Forward and it can be seen in many places around the city, from the Council House to the Stained Glass Window in the Birmingham Art Gallery and Museum.
Now we are not only entering a new year but a new decade (it’s not so special for someone as old as me! Even my older kids remember the Y2K virus fiasco!) But it’s a bit different as we approach leaving the UK and all the changes that will bring. It won’t happen suddenly, but I’m thinking the next decade is going to be very different.
My children will have all left school by the time the next decade arrives so there will be many changes at home too. In fact, Star will be entering her final year at school in September this year!
Things have to move forward, they never stay still. I can only imagine the changes my Nan saw during the eight and a half decades of her life. I’ve a fair bit of catching up to do.
Focusing on this year we have our holiday to look forward to. We are all booked up for a week in Dorset in August. I will make the most of it because before long, these child focused holidays will be a thing of the past…hey, does that mean I get to go on my grown up cruises then? 😉
So today I’m looking forward, but I have written two posts this week looking back on the last year and the last decade.
What are you looking forward to most this year?
Forward is a really good word, change is inevitable and a whole lot easier if you embrace it I think. I definitely think you will have earned those grown-up cruises once the kids are all older. I’m most looking forward to improving our home this year, there are so many things that we have put off doing but this is the year to change that. Have a lovely weekend x
Forward is a good word 🙂 So far I’m looking forward to seeing Phantom of the Opera in September 😀
Forward is a good choice of word for the start of the year. I’m a little anxious about looking forward – this year is going to bring a lot of change and uncertainty. A holiday is a nice thing to look forward to though. Happy New Year to you and your family, looking forward to continuing to join you for #WotW in 2020 x
It’s always good to have something to look forward too, even if the future seems uncertain. Happy New Year x
