My dear old Sabrina is now older than me in cat years. I think we currently have a competition going on who has the most grey hair. Do cats get grey hair too?
My dear old cat came into our life nearly twelve years ago along with her brother Salem. Her Mum was a ginger cat and his Dad black and white. Both our cats were black and white but when the sun shines on their fur you can see streaks of ginger. Lately though, I’ve noticed Sabby getting more and more grey hairs, even inside her ears.
She’s so old all she does is feed and sleep, often by my side, and in this photo she’s enjoying one of my hand made blankets. If I am ill she will curl up next too me, often giving me a nudge every now and then to check I’m okay.
With old age comes other stuff though. She has started forgetting to use the cat litter and doesn’t like going out, so that means a few accidents happen. She also brings up her food a lot too. So she’s not an easy cat, but I still love her.
Her brother Salem passed away in 2018 after we discovered he had cat cancer. Here’s a photo of them together when we first got them.
Last week I said I was going to take more photos, well I’m sorry but I didn’t really. Apart from the kids, the cats and the house, I’ve really nothing to take photos of. I did go out this week but we went straight to the surgery so I could have my vaccination. Maybe inspiration will strike soon.
Back to the grey hair. I was going to let my hair grow out grey. I’ve not dyed it for a long time now and it has really changed. But, the grey is not growing as much as my natural colour…oh hello natural mousey brown, I’d forgotten what colour I was! I have decided I don’t want to go grey after all. So this week I’m going to invest in a home dye and try and match my original hair colour a little more.
Oh look at them as kittens! So sweet, I’ve never really thought of a cat getting grey hair but I’m sure my dog did do #sundaysnapshot

It makes sense that cats hair would turn gray. You’re lucky to have had your furry family member so long. #MMBC
we are lucky and we appreciate her every day
Aww! Sabrina sounds like such a lovely cat.
I have let my hair grow for a couple of months to have a break from dying it and there is more grey than brown now. I am dying it again soon. Blue this time I think x

I would love to choose a different colour altogether but I don’t think I could cope with the lightening….maybe when I go more grey I won’t have to worry about that 🙂
I did let my hair grow out gray when I retired. I was tired of getting it colored all the time. I don’t know whether cats get gray, but dogs definitely do. We had a black dog that got gray on his muzzle before he died last year. Glad to hear that you got your vaccination!

I have decided to dye my hair, but because of how it feels than looks. It seems to have changed texture so much since it has become grey. I probably need to find the right products to care for it, but when I buy products for grey hair, my regular hair doesn’t feel right. I don’t think I’m ready just yet…maybe a few more years. Retirement age sounds good.
Sabrina is such a beautiful cat. I love the photo of her with her brother Salem as kittens. I think animals can go a little grey – my dog certainly did. #MMBC
I love the kitten photo too, I remember that day like it was yesterday. The kittens belonged to an old lady who lived nearby. Sabrina was the tiniest and has never grown very big. She’s so loving though.
How lovely to read about how caring Sabrina is! She looks like a beautiful cat.
Hope you can find a colour you like for your hair. I must say I’ve forgotten what my natural hair colour is too and I don’t know how much of my hair is grey now, although I think it’s rather a lot! I can’t imagine giving up dyeing my hair for a long time yet.
